We are a busy family of 5, always on the go. We need snacks- quick, easy and of course yummy snacks that will fill us up in between meals. I can make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or some peanut butter crackers using our favorite peanut butter and saltines, both of which are super cheap. But we don't always have the time to pack snacks when we are running late and I haven't prepared, or if we decide to go somewhere last minute. And the same old snacks can get boring so I am always keeping my eye out for new and affordable snacks my kids will love.
Snack time is important, especially for kids. Kids shouldn't be stuffing themselves at each meal so that they stay full until the next. They have small bellies so they need small and frequent meals. And snack time is a time to sit and talk about things that are going on. Usually when I make meals the kids are done eating before I even have a chance to sit down so when that happens we take the missed opportunity at snack time.
And this is where Ritz Crackerfuls Classic Cheddar crackers come in. I was choosen to review these snack crackers by Gather. So we tried them both at home and on the go.
For an at home snack I would not buy them again. At approximately $3 for a box of 6 large crackers it is much
more expensive than other snack crackers. But they are still only about $.50 per pack which makes them more affordable than stopping at the vending machine. Eating them at home is not worth it, because we could buy a big box of generic Triscuits or Wheat Thins (both taste as good as the name brand) for about $2 a box, and an 8oz package of cheddar cheese for about $3. It would be around $2 more total, but it would be a whole lot more food AND fresh cheese tastes WAY better than snack cracker cheese. There are plenty of cheaper lazy foods to eat at home.
For a to-go snack I might consider buying them with a coupon or a really good sale, but definitely not at the $3 price. Again, there are cheaper options that are just as convenient. We would go through one box in one shot with all the people hanging out around here. But I like that they have a little tray for snacking on (though at the same time it bothered me because of the extra waste). Not that a tray will keep a messy toddler from making a mess.
Ritz Crackerfuls taste pretty good. I like the size and the texture of the crackers. The cheese is much thicker than the cheese in regular snack crackers, which I like but otherwise they pretty much taste just like other snack crackers. The kids liked them too. my 4 year old and my 1 year old tried them and especially liked the inside. That is kind of strange for my little guy because he doesn't like real cheese by itself but he ate all of the inside of these before eating the cracker.

As for the nutritional differences I don't know what, if any, differences there are. Because they taste like the others the price will ensure that I do not buy them again (again, I will consider them if there is a great sale or coupon).

There are lots of big confusing words in the ingredients list and artificial colors, which I am not fond of. They have a good amount of fiber which is a positive and are fairly low in carbs which is surprising considering they are crackers.

They really are good crackers but I would be just as happy with less of a cracker at a lower price.
