!!! !!! !!! I Finally Found The Creature In My Gardens !!! !!! !!!

I finally found the evil little creature that's been terrorizing my gardens for over 2 years.........yes, it's eaten rose bush roots and there is one spot where it's decided I should not plant a tomato plant....of course that place is almost in the middle of where I plant all the rest.....

here it was coming back to the "scene of it's crimes" Saturday evening........

 

 

I think it seen me coming with the camera...it doesn't seem too worried about me slowly moving in closer...

So I moved in a little closer to get a better picture of it......see it rear up ?

 

 

but I kept moving up closer and closer, hoping to get the best shot of it as I could....

 

 

and then I figured out why it wasn't too worried about me getting closer, as it darted down into the hole in the ground it was "protecting"....

I couldn't believe how big this monster was,,,like a big fat cat or maybe a raccoon....enormous compared to most I've ever seen here in my lifetime....

time to set some traps I guess.....

With friends like you and George, just to name a few, nobody could stay gloomy long...LOL

Maybe if you build up a special area around him and did a feb special for him, he would not have time for your garden...LOL
I don't know about all of that....I was thinking about trapping him and taking outside of city limits and let him go....

but.....
there are hundreds more about 1/2 mile away on the other side of the cemetary....eeeeggads, I wonder if he has tunnels through there....

i have seen a few of those along side of the road, i would love to know what that is

Yep, its a ground hog. I used to have one that would visit me at work--he had been trained by one of the inmates to expect food--and I'd usually have some fruit for him.

Wow, I hope you catch him. I know how you feel. We put a lot of money, sweat and back breaking work into our gardens and flowers and we aren't doing it to feed these critters. Go get 'em.

Yups, he's a groundhop and he's a cutie patootie, lol!!!!! Awwwww........ya just gots to love him Randee, feed him some food, leave it special by his hole for 'em and fatten him up. He'll be far too fat and too lazy to bother your garden then no doubt! =~p

I agree with Ruth -- feed him.

I see many of these critters on the side of the road, the slower ones flat in the middle of the road.

They are destroying our gardens besides deer and racoons. They also carry diseases. One attacked Rocky and me. Be careful. People think they are fun to watch, but they are real nuisances. They live under sheds, in hill sides, etc.

Great shots of your pet groundhog Randee, do you think perhaps he thinks you plant the garden for him, and that is why he was not afraid, I know you won't hurt him, well, sort of
I was just informed this afternoon that if I do trap him, I can't move him more than 2 miles away, or he may not survive....no trip to Steph's with this guy..... maybe to the city limits....

Very nicely done... great photos! I wish I could find the predator who eats my winter squash long before it's ready to harvest. With two healthy winter squash plants I've only been left one squash this year, so far.
