I was quite surprised by how much I ended up liking The Ugly Truth. It might look like a typical chick flick, but it's really an R-rated romantic comedy aimed at guys, but with some chick flick elements. Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl are great together, and it's definitely a fun date movie for grown-ups.
What makes this movie work so well was the charisma between Butler and Heigl. Rather than get along real well, the two were supposed to be opposites and it worked. Their dialogue back and forth was also very well-written and there were plenty of hilarious scenes. The most memorable one takes place in a restaurant, and it's sort of a tribute to the famous Meg Ryan scene in When Harry Met Sally. Just be warned that there is a lot of sex talk in this movie, and it's about as graphic as you can imagine without actually showing anything.
