Gremlin

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn - about 3 oz desired color (MC)
Worsted weight yarn - scraps of black and desired color (for embroidery)
Small amount contrasting eyelash yarn (for mane)
Crochet hook size F and H
Polyfill
Yarn needle
Gauge - With crochet hook size F - 4 sc and 4 sc rows = 1 inch.
Finished Size = 8 inches tall.
Notes: Do not join rounds unless indicated.
Use MC color yarn, unless otherwise indicated.
Use crochet hook size F, unless otherwise indicated in pattern.
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Body
Rnd 1: Starting at bottom of body, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (24 sc)
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 6: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (30 sc)
Rnds 7 - 11: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 12: (Sc in next 3 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (24 sc)
Rnds 13 - 14: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 15: (Sc in next 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (18 sc)
Rnds 16 - 17: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 18: (Sc in next 4 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around, join with a sl st in next sc, fasten off. (15 sc)
Stuff body firmly.
Head
Rnd 1: Starting at top of head, ch 6, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 3 chs, 3 sc in last ch. Working around into opposite side of starting ch work, sc in next 4 chs. (12 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in each next 3 sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc. (18 sc)
Rnd 3: (2 sc in each next 3 sc, sc in next 6 sc) repeat around. (24 sc)
Rnds 4 - 6: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 7: Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in each next 3 sc, sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in each next 3 sc, sc in next 7 sc. (30 sc)
Rnds 8 - 11: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 12: Sc in next 2 sc, (decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) 3 times, sc in next 9 sc, (decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) 3 times, sc in next 7 sc. (24 sc)
Rnd 13: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 14: *(Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) 3 times, sc in next 6 sc, repeat from * once more. (18 sc)
Rnd 15: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 16: (Decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc) repeat around, join with a sl st in next sc, fasten off. (15 sc)
Stuff head firmly. With a length of MC yarn, sew head and body sections
together. Add more stuffing in neck area if needed before closing.
Feet (Make 2)
Row 1: Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across, ch 1, turn. (6 sc)
Rnd 2 (Work in rnds from here out): SC in back loop only of each sc across, DO NOT CH 1, turn. Working on remaining free loops of row 1 work a sc in each free loop across, join with a sl st in first sc, ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (DO NOT JOIN OR TURN RNDS FROM HERE ON OUT) (14 sc)
Rnds 4 - 8: Sc in each sc around. At the end of rnd 8, join with a sl st in next sc, leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Toes
(Worked on the 6 chs of the opposite side of row 1 starting ch)
Rejoin yarn in opposite side of first ch of row 1 of foot, ch 1, in same ch as joining work *sc, dc, ch 2, sl st in top of dc, work dc, sc and sl st in next ch, ** (in next ch repeat from *, end at **) twice. Fasten off (3 toes).
Stuff legs firmly and sew opening closed. Sew legs to rnd on front of body.
Arms (Make 2)
Row 1: Ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across, ch 1, turn. (4 sc)
Rnd 2 (Work in rnds from here out): SC in back loop only of each sc across, DO NOT CH 1, turn. Working on remaining free loops of row 1 work a sc in each free loop across, join with a sl st in first sc, ch 1, turn. (8 sc)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (DO NOT JOIN OR TURN RNDS FROM HERE ON OUT) (10 sc)
Rnds 4 - 11: Sc in each sc around. At the end of rnd 11, join with a sl st in next sc, leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Fingers
(Worked on the 4 chs of the opposite side of row 1 starting ch)
Rejoin yarn in opposite side of first ch of row 1 of arm, *ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, sl st in next free ch of row 1 of arm, repeat from * across, fasten off. (3 fingers)
Stuff arms firmly and sew opening closed. Sew arms to sides of body over rnds 14 -18.
Muzzle
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (8 sc)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (10 sc)
Rnd 4: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (15 sc)
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 6: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (20 sc)
Rnd 7: Sc in each sc around. Join with a sl st in next sc, fasten off.
Sew muzzle to center of face over rnds 9 - 16. Stuff muzzle before closing.
Ears (Make 4 Sections)
Row 1: Starting at top point of ear, ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, turn. (2 sc)
Row 2: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (3 sc)
Row 4: Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (4 sc)
Row 5: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Rows 6 - 7: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch 1, turn. (6 sc, 8 sc)
Row 8: Sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 9: Sc in each sc across, fasten off.
Joining: Hold 2 ear sections together and working through both pieces, join yarn at the side edge of row 9, ch 1, work a sc in same place as joining and at the side edge of next 7 rows, work 2 sc, ch 3, 2 sc in beginning ch at point of ears, then work a sc in side edge of next 8 rows, ch 1, join with a sl st in first scof row 9. Leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Sew the opening at bottom of ear closed. Sew ears to top of head to line up with the beginning ch of rnd 1 of head.
Tail
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (8 sc)
Rnd 3: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 4: (Sc in next 3 sc, 3 sc in next sc) repeat around. (12 sc)
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 6: (Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (14 sc)
Rnd 7 (this rnd will shape point of tail): (Sc in next 4 sc, sk next 3 sc) repeat around, join with a sl st in first sc, ch 1,DO NOT TURN. (8 sc)
Rnd 8: Being careful not to count the joining sl st of rnd 7 as a sc, work a sc in each sc around. (8 sc)
***stuff point of tail and flatten***
Rnds 9 - 15: Sc in each sc around.
***stuff tail and continue to add stuffing as work progresses.***
Rnd 16: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (10 sc)
Rnds 17 - 18: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 19: (Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (12 sc)
Rnds 20 - 21: Sc in each sc around. At the end of rnd 21, join with a sl st in next sc. Leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Sew tail to back of body.
Mane
Row 1: Starting at top of mane with eyelash yarn and crochet hook size H, ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, ch 1, turn. (2 sc)
Row 2: SC in each sc across, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Work 2 sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. (4 sc)
Rows 4 - 33 (or until mane length reaches from top of head between ears down
center back of body to top of tail): Work a sc in each sc across, ch 1, turn. At the end of final row, fasten off.
Sew mane from top of head down center of back to top of tail.
Finishing:
With desired color yarn, embroider eyes over muzzle. With a length of black
yarn, embroider nostrils and mouth onto muzzle.
Weave in any remaining loose ends.
