Killing my Hair, pt 2

So, I did it. I killed my hair. BOY did it come out RED. I'm not sure how long it'll last- I may try darkening it a bit this weekend. Or, maybe I'll use the brown dye/shampoo stuff to gradually make it more natural looking. I like it, but man, it's RED.

Here's the photos, to see for yourself. I included a before photo, and photos of the box to show what color it should have been. It's much more red than auburn, as the box was supposed to be.

So... what are YOUR thoughts? I'm undecided still. This was MUCH more drastic than anticipated.

Oh wow! It's red alright! It will probably lighten after several washings. I would wait and see before I tried anything else. I dyed my hair last week. I went with "Dark Blonde". It's even more dark brown than it was before I colored it......

Generally I think women should stop trying to play God and just go with what Nature gave them so they don't have these kind of mishaps.

I know exactly what you used. I've used that same color. BUT never fear. Don't try and redye your hair, it won't work. Red is very hard to cover up BUT it also comes out really fast. It doesn't last long at all. I am a natural red head and dye my hair to cover up the grays. I just dyed it before vacation three weeks ago and by the time I came back from my 10 day vacation you couldn't even tell I colored it. It really will wash out quickly.
When I go red, it can last up to 6 months without needing a re-dye. I'm not new to it. There's this stuff you can get to use when you wash your hair, that gradually adds color. They have it in brown, red, and blond. The last time my hair came out red similar to this, I just used that in it to help darken it a shade or two.

I love it! That's about what mine looked like last time I dyed it. It will fade pretty quickly. I wouldn't re-dye it. Just wait it out. :~)

BTW, a study says redheads suffer more pain than other hair colors. I thought that ironic.

Something I learned the hard way, even after a colorist explained it to me, is that color on top of color does not remove color. Meaning if your hair is dark to begin with, dying any color will make it come out darker. So I'm thinking that's why your hair is so much darker than the box. Even in salons, the sample hair colors that they have are dyed onto blond or white hair. That being said, I like it! Give yourself a day or two to get used to it, and maybe you will, too!

Hmm. Not a color of my choice, for me it looks a little too "anime" red, but you know if you're happy with it, that's what matters.

Oh! I wanted to add that I like this color better than the color my kid's step-mom came out with. She also dyes red and tried a new color and it came out looking more like purple than red.

Hmmm I recently dyed my hair and it is almost that same color I did mine cause I was tired of the gray showing around the temple areas

It sure is red Heather. When you mentioned Feria, this was the color I was thinking about. I agree with everyone else, don't redye it, at least wait a little until you decide to do so.

I find that L'oreal products always come up more red than you want them too. It will tone down in a couple of weeks after a few shampoos. Hey, it grabs attention and you still look lovely :)

that did turn out quite red... the dye from feb is growing out of my hair... I am have been thinking of putting a temp color it to hide the roots..... and just keep doing that until it grows out...

It is very red, but when you have it next to the box, I think it looks like the box color, it is the roots that are more shocking.

It just about looks like the box, which is a good thing!
I think it looks like cherry red. Not canned cherries but the fresh produce cherries. Makes me hungry for cherries!

Wow, it looks like someone added a bunch of berry color to it. Where did all the maroon tinting come from? I personally see nothing wrong with the color if you decide you like it... did you notice that it matches the van behind you in the wet hair photos? Hehehe. Sorry, I found it funny that my hair when blue clashed totally with my maroon SUV, if that is your van, at least you will not look bad in it :)
