THIS GATHER MEMBER BELIEVES OUR LAW MAKERS WILL NOT MAKE THE HARD CHOSES NEEDED TO GIVE OUR COUNTRY THE HEALTHCARE IT DESERVES.
I am suggesting some of the high price items that they do not talk about just for a start. It will take all our noise to find someone that will listen and investigate these items. I ask for all the help and ideas to get action before it is too late.
- Request that the government agencies reinvestigate older drugs and treatments to see if some of these are not being used because their patents have run out and they are no longer profitable to manufacturer.
- Stop paying new drug research just to find a drug that can be patented. The government should make these drugs where used the same cost as the generic or just stop using them.
- Have all drugs purchased by the government and given directly to the Pharmacist who will only work with the doctors and prescribers. This will stop all advertising and special packaging because the people will get all their information when their doctor gives it to them as a cure.
- Place a cap on all accident claims. The injured party should be paid the medical costs only by his insurance agency. No pain and suffering lawsuits will be allowed and lawyers if used will be for claims on medical. Lawyers shall have no financial reasons to raise this cost, as their fee will be based on time rendered.
- All medical research will be paid for by the government with researches free to decide what to research. Proof of need will be required.
- Medical equipment shall be purchased by the government and provided free to the medical profession along with needed buildings and trained operators such that this high cost is not a part of treatment.
This is just my start, but with more input from all of Gather it just may help.

I think you are right on with most of these thing.
Here is one more thing, We should not be forced to pay higher co pays because the insurance company forces us to take the name brand over the generic brand.
Mooch
One thing I think the world could do that would benefit everyone is to realize how innovative we are, and limit the patent protection period to 5-7 years. That would spur innovation and cut down on lawsuits and corporate intimidation. We need technology to save us now like we have never needed it before, and putting government and the legal system and profit making as the gatekeeper to extract maximum profit before we can improve things is going to hold us back and insure disaster.
