On Day 33 (June 21, 2009) of our All the Ballparks Road Trip 2009 we celebrated Father's Day as we went to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Red Lobster. It turned out to be a great day to visit the museum because dads got in free and that saved us some money and Dad also got a special mini bat instead of the normal one at the end of the factory tour. My brother complained most of the 76 day trip, but this was one day he really loved because he is a mini bat collector and thus also finds regular bats interesting to learn about.

My dad getting my brother out of the car in front of the Louisville Slugger Museum before he went to go find a parking spot.

Display of awards in the museum part of the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum, which we visited after our tour, since we arrived just in time to join a tour and did not get to see it before the tour.

My dad with the free mini bats from the tour. Since it was Father's Day he got a special Most Valuable Dad one.

I love the bats hanging from the ceiling in the Louisville Slugger Museum.

My bro proudly showing off he free mini bat from the factory tour. One of the few times he willingly posed on the trip. I think most of the times it had to do with him holding a mini bat.

Honus Wagner items in the Louisville Slugger Museum. I think he was the first to sign a contract with the company.
They have some drawers with bats to pull out and see some interesting Louisville Slugger bats. Below are a few of them.

One of the bats used by Joe DiMaggio during his record breaking streak of hitting safely in games in a row.

This is an interesting display to see if you can tell which is actually smaller in diameter. I could not tell, but MLB ballplayers usually can tell to the smallest measurement that their bat is off.

Some cool old mini bats on display in the museum. I had to take the photo because they were up to high for my brother in his wheelchair to look down onto (the only way to see them).

Me posing with one of the prototype bats

The bats of the 2008 World Series teams.

Display on how many bats come from a log

Interesting swinging butter churner that was made by the company before becoming a baseball bat maker.

One of Babe Ruth's bats with notches for each home run hit with the bat.

The gold lettering going on the personalized bat we got my dad for Father's Day.
Below are photos of us posing with the bat we got Dad for Father's Day and the personalized mini bat my bro got.

Below is the back of our car with the Louisville Slugger 125 anniversary magnet added.

After the museum we drove to our campground in Indiana and then had dinner at Red Lobster to celebrate Father's Day using gift cards Mom gave us.

Below are photos of the personalized bat and mini bat we got at the museum. I took the photos at the campground.

Read more about the Louisville Slugger Museum part of our road trip in my post on my trip blog here. I am now back from the trip and I am trying to catch up on the photo essays, but still most of the in depth information on our various adventures is on the trip blog. If you are at all into baseball and ballparks I think you will enjoy taking a look at my All the Ballparks Road Trip 2009 blog.
