Huntington Beach State Park, SC - Scenic Views

Huntington Beach State Park is a great place to visit for viewing great birds, alligators, the marsh and walking through wooded areas.  The park runs along the beach also, it's an added bonus for a day of hiking and exploring.  While on a recent walk I decided to take some photos of the wooded areas and some wild flowers  along the causeway. 

Come along and take a virtual walk with me.

We'll start with a walk down the causeway where all the birds and alligators hang out.

Now we'll head on back to a paved path that runs through the woods and out to the old entrance to ATALAYA CASTLE.

These are trumpet flower blooms that fell in the water, not Koi.

A beautiful work of art at the end of the path.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of Huntington Beach State Park even though there were no photos of any wildlife, just the beauty of the woods and swamp area.

Pretty shots of the park scenery.

I looked at the map and there are 2 caches I haven't gotten there, which I plan to get tomorrow morning when I am there.

Did you find them? BTW, the craft show was pretty good, a little pricey but the items were quality items. No photos allowed.

Yes, it's amazing that flowers grow in the woods and swamp areas and they are really pretty.

Janet, if your could have heard that roar Marianne and I heard on Monday, you would have taken off in the other direction really quick. We had no idea it was a gator, but hung around trying to see what it was. We never did see the gator that made the noise but we learned something new. Marianne did some research on the gators and it was really interesting.

It is beautiful...although I'm not sure I want to be "where the alligators hang out." Of course, you like those dangerous animals...I'll stick to birds and flowers and leave the alligators and bears to you!

What a gorgeous walk. Thank you for taking us on it with you. Did you see any alligators? I have seen some in my travels, but fortunately they were at a safe distance. I think it's kind-of scary that I might come face to face with one on a hike, but the beauty of the place would probably win out over the risk.

Yes, I saw the usual alligators, herons, egrets and other birds. I still have more pictures to post. The beauty does overcome the dangers here at HBSP and the alligators really aren't agressive unless provoked, (so far). Marianne R. and I go often, Marianne goes almost every day as a matter of fact. You should see her photos of the alligators and other wild life. This place is just amazing, it's addictive actually.

I find the scenic shots the most challenging, it's difficult to convey what a place looks like.
Maybe I'll make it back to Sawgrass Lake Park this week or try out a new park, I found out about two other interesting ones in our area, that I have never yet been to.
