I'm a little late with this final photo essay showing the slave quarters and a few other sights I haven't shared yet from Boone Hall Plantation. I have posted links to the other photo essays at the end of this in case you missed some of them.
First I'd like to share photos of what is still standing of the slave's quarters. Back before the Civil War slaves helped run the plantation and there are still a few buildings on the property and some artifacts. As they restore these buildings they are finding small treasures buried beneath the floor boards. The slaves would find these items and hide them away. It's sad to think that such menial items were so treasured by them and even sadder to think they had to keep them hidden, only to be enjoyed when there was no threat of being caught with them.
They had very small brick homes, two rooms and a fireplace.

Some of the items found hidden under the floor boards.

The largest of the buildings, not sure what this was used for.

Some other photos I didn't include in previous photo essays.
From the butterfly conservatory.
The outside.

A few garden ornaments and butterfly feeders.

A bug I've never seen before.

Wasp nest.

Some pretty views of the grounds and main house.

So this concludes our tour of Boone Hall Plantation. If you ever come to South Carolina I hope you get a chance to see it for yourself.

Love that blown-glass butterfly feeder!
How bad are the ones Larry shot of us at Huntington? I want to see the video of the gator eating crabs.
It must take forever to get all those pix into the post. I get tired of trying!
Maybe someday I will be able to visit.
It looks like a Beautiful and interesting place.
