Seatbelts have been law in N. America for over 10 years now and it's a very steep fine if you are caught without them. Quite a few states in the U.S. don't require a cyclist to wear a helmet, though. I consider that really stupid.

yes, I always wear mine and tell others in the car to get theirs on.
I don't do motorcycles so I don't know if you are required to wear a helmet...Steve always wears his, but I see lots on the street that aren't wearing them.

I always wear mine. As far as I am aware it's a secondary offense here, so you have to be pulled over for another violation before they will fine you for not wearing a seat belt. But it's not an option for me. I need to set a good example for my kids and stay safe. Plus, whoever is in the driver's seat HAS to wear the belt because the car beeps over and over again until you put it on.

We are home to Harley and they fought very hard for the law to pass so that helmets are optional. So I see people all the time without a helmet. But it's the law to wear one on a bicycle.

My son talks about wanting a motorcycle when he is old enough to drive. It saddens me that even though he will be a a child (16, 17 years old) he will NOT have to wear a helmet if he doesn't want to, according to the law. According to the rules of MY house though, if he does get a motorcycle and he gets caught without a helmet he will NOT have a motorcycle to drive.

Always! Have ever since 1967 and read a newspaper article about the scientist/engineers that explained the necessity. Had a hard time convincing my son's grandparents to always keep him belted. They gave me all sorts of excuses as to why not. I had to threaten to not allow him to ride with them!

Always and I require passengers to wear them as well.

I do because I as most of you know I was in a real bad accident that left me with Cerebral Palsy on top of brain damage

I don't get on my husband's motorcycle...no way, no how. Hubby always wears a helmet though.

yes we do It is the law,, I am not happy to do so,, It was the seat belt that killed my sister,, yet law is law

I always wear my seat belt. It has saved my life at least a few times.
