Hey guys, remember me? I've been gone from Gather for awhile, but decided to come back and let you know what's been going on with me. In the past six weeks, I've written three stories. I'm so jazzed, considering for the past year and a half, I've been struggling to write.
Sure, I completed projects, but waaay past deadline. I thank my lucky stars I have such understanding editors...
One of the stories in question isn't *quite* finished, but it should be by either the end of the day or this weekend. It's entitled KINDRED, and it's a fantasy romance. I'd started it eons ago, but shelved it to do other projects, then it began to collect dust. It's already contracted through Champagne Books, but my editor understood the characters weren't "talking to me" and decided to let me write when I could. For weeks I agonized, wondering if I should just break my contract. I had NO desire to write this book. The characters weren't working for me.
But when I got an awesome idea for another story, BLACK ANGEL, my muse returned to me. For two weeks straight, I worked on BA. When I'd finished it, I immediately jumped into another story idea, a historical western entitled THE FALL OF JERICHO. Finished THAT one in a couple of weeks as well. Seen as how I was riding the wave of creativity, I decided to crack open KINDRED and see if it could be salvaged.
To my surprise, it began to talk back! I've been writing that story furiously and now it's almost finished. I'm so happy I never asked to be released from my contract! :D
BLACK ANGEL is a novella, submitted at Samhain Publishing. I'll know within a few weeks if they'll accept it. Here's the blurb:
Â
Lost in a snowstorm, Brielle of Brightwater prays for all she’s worth for the Goddess Eliana to save her. Her deliverance comes in the form of an unlikely savior, with obsidian skin and ominous, leathery wings. Despite his appearance, she’s convinced he’s an angel, sent to her by the will of the Goddess.
Alric Flievve is Genessa, a race of beings from another world. He’s been banished for a crime he didn’t commit, and is fascinated Brielle sees him as anything other than a demon. It isn’t long until forbidden feelings abound and their hearts are as entwined as their bodies.
But their love is challenged when the doorway to Alric’s world suddenly opens and two Genessa from his past step through. Hell-bent on death and destruction, they target Brielle, and they’ll stop at nothing to see Alric suffer as he’s never suffered before.
When their dark, horrible magics begin to twist Brielle’s soul, can Alric’s own power overcome their hate and jealousy before they take the life of the only woman he’s ever loved?

THE FALL OF JERICHO was written for Harlequin Historical Undone, their short eBook line. I'm keeping everything crossed in the hopes I can sign with New York! I should know in a few months. I hate waiting, but maybe a good thing will come to me. :D

The walls around his heart come crashing down...
Mercy Ainsworth never stopped loving Jericho James after he’d left town four years ago. When they were kids, she’d pledged her virtue to him after a stolen kiss behind the schoolhouse. Now that he’s returned, one look is all it takes to convince her he’s still the reason the sun rises and sets.Â
After the death of his sister, Jericho became a hardened bounty hunter, vowing to find the man who killed her. When his travels bring him back home, danger follows him, and the girl he once loved is now a woman who desperately needs his help.
Sparks fly as old embers are fanned into roaring flames, but will love alone be enough to keep Jericho by Mercy’s side?

Last but not least, the only one that's contracted, KINDRED. This one will be coming out with Champagne Books, but like I said, I have no idea about a release date. I'll let you know as soon as one is forthcoming. :)

It's been a looooong time since I've had so many projects on the horizon. I'm hoping I'll hear some good news about my submissions. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
