On Day 31 (June 19, 2009) we went to the Chicago Cubs Game at Wrigley Field, as the 16th game/ballpark of our All the Ballparks Road Trip 2009. Wrigley was my favorite ballpark before the trip and even after visiting all the other ballparks I can still say it is my favorite. There is just something about a ballgame in an old time ballpark. Fenway has that feel, but is has the disadvantage of being home to an American League team and I never really have liked the whole designated hitter thing that really changes the game experience.

Heading into the storm as we drove from my mom's apartment to Wrigley Field. It looks menacing and beautiful all at the same time in my opinion. Really, though, I like the color of Lake Michigan in this photo. This storm led to the game starting late due to a rain delay, which was the third rain delay in a row we experienced on the trip.

I thought the Pepsi ads geared towards the Cubs were interesting. This was taken while sitting in the parking lot right next to Wrigley waiting for the rain to let up enough for the minimal dash to the park. It would be nice if my brother was not physically disabled, but it is nice that there are some perks that offset the things he cannot do such as really close parking, which comes in handy when it is pouring.

Once inside Wrigley Field we walked around on the lower level before heading up to our seats because it was still raining and we were not sure our seats were covered or not. Here I got my helmet sundae for this ballpark.

After walking the whole bottom and getting bored we decided to just head up to our seats. The wheelchair seats ended up being in a covered area right under the press box behind home plate, so we not only stayed dry, but also had a great view. Below are photos of the view from our seats including the old scoreboard, which is one of the main things I love about Wrigley.

Below are photos of them getting the field ready to start the game. By the way they took it off once and then put it back on after these photos. More rain never came before they finally decided they could start the game.

To the left is the waterfall created with the rain water coming off the part that covers some of the upper deck.
Below are some of the food photos from the game. See my brother's food scrapbook review post on the blog here. My brother had fries and a pulled pork sandwich. I got a giant pretzel that cost $15, but was well worth it, as I only ate 1/4 of it and took it back to the apartment to snack on over the next day and a half.

Below are some photos of our Cubs souvenirs. We got a sign for my mom's Chicago apartment, as she has a sort of Chicago sports theme and it goes perfect with the red lockers she has in the tv room. I got a Wrigley Field ball and my bro got a Wrigley Field mini bat.

Below are photos I took during the game, which lasted ten innings with the Cubs winning in the bottom of the 10th.

Below are photos of the W flag being raised after the Cubs won.

Read more about the Chicago Cubs Game part of our road trip in my post on my trip blog here. I am now back from the trip and I am trying to catch up on the photo essays, but still most of the in depth information on our various adventures is on the trip blog. If you are at all into baseball and ballparks I think you will enjoy taking a look at my All the Ballparks Road Trip 2009 blog.
