Since our fri night shucking party got rained on and we only got 2 batches done before the rain, 14 bags worth, we went over to son's again last night. He had his car loaded with more corn. We worked from just after 7pm till 9:30. We worked outside and it got dark. He had torches lit around but it got a bit hard to see those last cobs. The guys did most the husking while Jen and I cut the corn off the cob.
In all we got 7 more batched done. That should be around 45-50 more bags for the freezer. Once its all froze my share will be about 20 bags. I don't have a big freezer so they keeping my share in their's.
We had fun, talking and teasing each other. Their daughter Arie,1.5 yrs old, ran around between us, playing with the husks, corn, and trying to steal away the cobs. Jason filled a small pool with water and thats where they threw the cleaned corn to rinse before we cut. Arie would come to the table, sneak one of the already rinsed cobs and throw it back into the pool.
There were still lots of corn left so we took several dozen to give away. My friend Vera wanted to freeze some also, so we took her a couple dozen. She was happy when I dropped them off. I know what we will be eating for the next few days.
