While I actually go to Huntington Beach State Park to see the beautiful flowers, birds and to be thrilled by the sighting of an alligator or two, there are also lots of spiders and bugs as Marianne and I found out Monday on our photo shoot early in the morning. We also found a snake! We are very aware that they are all around and if you aren't careful you'll be walking right into a giant web, stepping on a snake or ant hill. Along with the not so pleasant sights, there are beautiful dragonflies to be seen also.
The spiders can make huge webs that blend in so well when woven between the branches of the trees or tall grass, you have to be very careful when stepping beyond the grass into the woods. So first I'd like to share some photos of the spiders we saw.

This one has a nice big locust in it's web.

Zipper spider.

No spider in this next photo but when the Zipper spider comes home he has a nice meal waiting. It's a shame, it looks like a dragonfly wasn't looking for the spiders as carefully as we were.

Then I saw this ant hill, good thing I didn't step in it, I'd have some painful bites and itchy feet.

Along the way Marianne spotted a snake, she was brave and tried to pull it out with a stick but it slithered into the weeds.

So enough of the icky stuff, we also saw some beautiful dragonflies.

I hope you enjoyed seeing something different from Huntington Beach State Park, I sure did.
