Hidden Words Say Nothing

Why do the words have to be hidden

can't their meaning be clear

why must we go on searching

when I already know you are near?

what is so hard in expression

in learning to say what you mean

in telling the person you love

that which others have already seen?

Why must we be mind readers

Just guessing at the truth

Wondering if it is really out there

Or just part of the Gin and Vermouth

Too many find it so easy

To insult, despise and demean

Yet few find it easy to stay

When I love you is on the scene

If you want me to know

Don’t make it so hard to find

You will find I am basically good

And I have a heart that is kind

Give me some time and honesty

And I will return it with so much more

Hidden words just carry no meaning

Losing the love you had in store.

so speaks to me~ I would rather have it delivered plain and unadorned~ the curlicues of sidestepping the meat of the meaning is an annoyance that often times turns darker~

I agree with your words here Purr. I'd rather ust lay it all out....truthfully and let the chips fall where they may! You can tell alot by a person who is receptive to the truth when it comes to feelings.

Wow. You made this VERY clear, and so true. Keep it simple and up front. And why does the declaration of love sometimes scare people off? Now that really makes no sense. Especially when the feelings are mutual. Hope you are better today.

If it were easy, it would happen more often. Quite often there aren't any words that fit the real feeling and meanings.

I know words aren't always accurate, but that is why it is even more important to talk about things, so misunderstandings can be worked out before they become disasters or explosions and everyone gets hurt.

I tend to tell people to tell me if I say too much, but I won't know if I don't ask. People think you should know by body language, yet that is the most deceitful language there is in some ways. We all interpret based on experience, and that makes body language easy to misunderstand.

words can have multiple meanings, thus we need to learn the art of meaningful discussion, so that understanding can be reached, or misunderstandings become nightmares, and everybody loses.

One of my true wishes for the world is honesty, plain and simple. Sometimes it can be hurtful, but I'd rather know everything up front and deal with it. Great thought provoking poem, Lisa!
