Sleepless Nights

Shadows bruise under my eyes

From fitful tossing and turning

You must realize

Seattle’s not equipped for burning

Relentless days of ninety degree highs,

Sleeplessly yearning

For the slightest breeze

I too enjoy 90º, as long as it sticks to the daytime. When it is still 85º at 11pm, it is too much.

Ugh...I've had nights like that ! I am so thankful when the fog rolls in at night after a hot day !

Susan ~ This Snippet shows a great degree of SKILL. The way you have gotten your message across in "30" words so very plainly, yet with such instructive wording is admirable. I can take some lessons from you.

This is a perfect "30" UNDER~the~EYE~SHADOWS~Style Snippet, and has been entered into Our 2nd Snippets CHALLENGE on the topic of SHADOWS as your 3rd entry.

You did a GREAT JOB on this...

Your first three lines are very smooth and they flow very well right into the ending...
The line "You must realize" ~ connects the sentence before it, and the line after it, with two different messages. EXCELLENT WRITING Susan.

You got your point across so effortlessy in 30 words.

BTW - you out there in the PNW got what was supposed to be our summer weather in the upper mid-west. We had a very cool summer and usually have 90 degree days. It was a rather nice respite though........

Susan, I can well imagine. The hottest 86 degrees I ever experienced was in Bremerton, Wa. I thought we would die. Here 86 would be considered an excellent temp. Nice the way you turned this into a snippet.

Thank you! It definitely can be muggy here. Usually our electric bill is about $30 a month in the summer, but with three fans going and constantly making ice our bill was about $65 for each of the last two months.

Thanks! It's part of the sculpture garden at the Walker Center in Minneapolis. I have been there a couple of times now because I so love giant items.
