Featured in several movies Red Barn Ranch is simply picture perfect. Eye candy! Add Florida sunshine and a few thousand well kept cattle behind a picturesque white fence and you have the stuff movies are made of.
Entrance Gate

When I was house sitting in the country recently,
I welcomed the opportunity to scout the neighborhood
for my own little photo shoot.
This allee of trees leads to the farm house itself.

The coolest red barn I've ever seen sits off to the right hand side.

The barn was barely within reach of my zoom.

It has to be enormous, just look at the size of the cattle in front of it.

Only after I mentioned it to my SIL the next day did I find out that two of the places I'd photographed have been the backdrop in several movies and a Pepsi Commercial.
How cool is that?
Cattle ranching is not something that comes to mind when I think about Florida, but old Florida in the fifties consisted primarily of cattle ranches, swamp land and orange groves.
Since the cattle was way too far for me to get a good shot, I decided to take a few photos across the street in another field. After all,
what good is a shot of a barn
without at least some countryside and cows in it?

It was near sunset so the field was aglow.

It was a fun and different subject to photograph and I wondered what the rancher's own home looked like. My SIL told me it is a regular home not nearly as grand as this amazing red barn.
Walking back - a couple of parting shots for perspective .............

Love that cool star decor ..........

I hope you have enjoyed your tour of the country side with me.

I just happened to see it on the way.
very philantropic, cattle, horses, cows, buffalo and a herd of deer - injured and rescued animals.
The first two buffalo they got from the zoo because they were too old and lo and behold they had babies and now they live happily ever after - I think my SIL said he's got at least 14 now.
Maybe I'll get a chance to photograph some of them one day.
Thank you for posting to Pretty Pictures.
fun essay
Sounds like a scenic drive, Sue. I always think about all the land and how good it would be to keep it all from being developed.
