Daily Whine & Shine - Monday, August 3, 2009
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Whether you agree with the concept or not, everyone needs to be able to vent from time to time. That's especially true if you're one of the many who suffer from an invisible illness. We have whines and rants about pains, medical professionals and prescriptions, just to name a few. Perhaps our families listen; perhaps they don't. Even if they do, they get tired of our complaining, even if they claim to understand our struggles. Or if they don't get tired of our "negative energy" we think they do or will.
Do you need to rant about something? Tell us about it.
Do you have some celebration or victory you need to share? This is the place.
What's happening in your world today? Are you grumpy about something? Or so angry you could spit? Tell it here. Here at the Weekend Chew & Stew , it's acceptable to rant, vent, complain, stomp your feet, throw a tantrum, and shout, "Oh shuckie darn!"
Wait! Don't go away! Do you have some good news to share? Great. This is the place for that as well. If you're celebrating, dancing, and yelling, "Yippee Skippy!" please share. Sometimes knowing about someone else's happiness gives us a bit of hope for ourselves.
Whether you're shouting, "Oh shuckie darn!" or yelling, "Yippee skippy!" - this is the place to be. Pull up a rocking chair, and let's talk about it.
Now, let's celebrate!!!

Food for Thought:
The function of government is to obey orders, not originate them. ~ Mark Twain
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned -- this is the sum of good government. ~ Thomas Jefferson
A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. ~ Thomas Jefferson
A Cherokee Legend
A Grandfather from the Cherokee Nation was talking with his grandson.
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves."
"One wolf is evil and ugly: He is anger, envy, war, greed, self-pity, sorrow, regret, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, selfishness and arrogance."
"The other wolf is beautiful and good: He is friendly, joyful, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, justice, fairness, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, gratitude, and deep vision."
"This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other human as well."
The grandson paused in deep reflection because of what his grandfather had just said. Then he finally cried out; "Oyee! Grandfather, which wolf will win?"
The elder Cherokee replied, "The wolf that you feed."

Our air conditioner went out today. Of course, the cold spell we were having for a while cleared up and we had more normal temperatures today. Our house is now 85 inside. I just looked. It's supposed to get down to 55 tonight and we have windows open as far as we can. But we can't open them too far or the cats try to push the screens out to escape. Grrr.
Hopefully, the a/c guy from church will have time to check ours our tomorrow. And hopefully it won't cost too much to fix.
1) Obama is not ruling out new taxes....Don't I seem to remember a promise that he made during his campaign of 'no new taxes', wow, why am I not surprised that he lied.....sorry its a political thing. I don't think there is a politician on the face of this earth that is capable of telling the truth.
The Good
Orly Taitz, has filed in court for authentication or dismissal of a piece of paper that she received purporting to be a Kenyan Birth Certificate.....can we say that something might hit the fan. This could be what forces him to provide his long form birth certificate. With comparison to other birht certificates or certifications from Kenya the year that this was given out has no indication that it is forged. The person who gave it to her requested anonynimity (sp) for fear of his life, do you blame them? So one way or another this can't be ignored now, he needs to provide his LONG form Birth Certificate from Hawaii, or he needs to get out of office. If his long form was obtained by any means other than a doctor present, his eligibilty to be in office needs to be questioned.
So I give you one political whine and one political shine.

Neat about the Kenya birth certificate. I read the other day that his half-sister, who we know was NOT born in Hawaii has that same short form that he does from Hawaii. It's not a birth certificate. Just proof of having been born - somewhere.
The fact that they keep denying the allegations that he was born in Kenya not in the U.S, aren't going to go away, the nation could start to heal and maybe more people put some faith in him as a politician if he would produce the dang piece of paper. I don't think it will happen.
World Net Daily would not have ran with a story showing an actual photograph of a Kenyan Birth Certificate if they didn't have cause to think it was real. While they don't go out of their way to say it is real, they give the facts that the lawyer is filing in court to have the document proved or disproved as being legitimate. Its a huge step in proving Obama is or ISN't who he says he is.
There will be amny who cry 'fake' as one fake birth certificate from Kenya has made the rounds, and they have already taken that into consideration,, and have compared it to other birth certifications and certificates from Kenya the same year. And the fact that the signature is there, and that they are similar forms etc give credence that it 'may' be a legitimate piece of paper.

It appears that my trips to the smallest room have become almost normal again. Yippee skippy!
And, even though there was still some confusion - we should have now met our deductible making the inhaler go from $138 to $25...and it was still at $138, it was pay day and hubby decided to get it.
After using it for only one day, he noticed a difference in my breathing and wheezing...or lack thereof.
I wish I had the power to take away all problems, (my own included) from everyone with just a hug.
Thanks for sharing this Marilyn.
The young couple next door has twins. Bless their hearts. They're 9 months old now. You'd think that they would sleep all night by now. :)
I have my litle opionion about a/c.....it is very very unpopular with all I feed it too....
I believe that if people really want to go green, the first thing they should do would be turn off that a/c and find a safe way to dispose of these deadly machines.....
just look at how much energy would be saved by this....
I think a/c makes people sick....after a long time of lifetime use....
If your house is equipped not to have a/c - having fans in each room and being able to open windows, you might be able to survive. But when you can only open the windows about 3 inches so the cats don't get out and there's only one ceiling fan - in the kitchen - it's pretty miserable when the house is 85 degrees.
My heat headache is killing me. The air is stale. I am not a happy camper. And I'm about to go throw up. Later.
re-enforce the screens you have with metal and that may keep your kitties inside.....sorry---I've worked in hell most of my life.....
I don't know if you have heard of Ken Hamblin, he radio talk showed a long while ago.....he had an anti-global warming scientist on one night that gave everyone listening a little food for thought.....
this certain company had the patents/copyrights for freon for a 50 years period....in the late 90's, this patent would expire and anybody could start making $$$ from freon without having to give 'this company' their rightful money due....well this conpany just by chance had a new product that could and would replace the bad bad freon and they have another 50 year patent...global warming had no back bone until this company freely admitted that freon was mostly respnisible for destroying ozone....
so began the farce.......
Whine: The are interviewing several people besides me for the job.
It helps to know people. One of our church member families own a heating and air conditioning company. Last year when our a/c gave out, the guy came and fixed it in 10 mintues and didn't charge us a thing.
This time, his wife - who answers the phone and is his dispatcher (and accountant) - said that the coil could have frozen. Since the blower was still working (we could hear it in the basement), but we weren't getting any air upstairs, she said that was a possibility. When the coil freezes up, it doesn't allow air to get past it. She told hubby to make sure we turned it all off for a few hours.
Since we had it off all night, when I turned on the blower, it was working! Then I turned the switch to turn on the a/c and, sure enough, it worked. We learned something. :)
If we had called any other heating/air conditioning company they would not have told me that on the phone. They would have come and charged a fee to just come and probably an hour of labor. And, if they weren't real honest, they might have suggested we needed all kinds of work as well.
Last night with the 55 degree weather outside and being able to have the windows cracked (but not more because of the kitties), it did get down to 79 in the house finally. Now, with the a/c working again, it's down to 75 where I prefer it to be.
Hooray!
Hubby seems extra quiet today - either he is annoyed about work or about our fight yesterday. I was hoping for him to be back to normal today.
Shine: the sun is shining and the weather is nice. Not too hot yet and not too cold. I just finished lunch and the kiddo should be napping soon :)
