I did a little shopping today and I enjoyed it. Oh, the joys of payday. Of course, after the bills are paid, there's not much left these days...but I did enjoy spending the little I had ; )
My first stop was K-Mart. I don't go there very often, but one item I needed was significantly cheaper and the store was on the way to my MIL's, so I decided to look around. I found some cool Hannah Montana pencil sets for $1.50 each on clearance. (I don't know why school supplies would be on clearance now, but who am I to question K-Mart?) So, I got the last two for my younger nieces. I also found some small, pretty journals. They had plastic covers and tied with ribbon. They had been marked down from $3.99 to 70 cents. With Christmas in mind, I picked up about five of them. Then, as I was checking out, I noticed some very nice cribbage games on sale for $1. I grabbed the last three of those, again with Christmas on my mind.
Unfortunately, what I saved paled into comparison for the $19.99 I spent on (gasp) the Jonas Brothers Concert DVD. My youngest niece broke her elbow and her arm just below the rotator cuff. So, the last few days of summer have been not as busy as expected for her and her sister. I know they've wanted this DVD and they didn't get to see it when it was on at the theatre...so how could an aunt say no? They were surprised and elated! And I left my poor MIL to have to endure two hours of the bros tonight.
On the way back I stopped at Walgreen's....which is always a good place for a bargain. I bought some back-to-school supplies at good prices, some composition books 3/$1. I also found some folders back in the back on clearance for just 20 cents each. Also stocked up on some Ramen noodles in a cup. These were on sale for 30 cents and my husband (for some strange reason) really likes them.
One thing I learned today was that K-Mart gives you register coupons. They guy in electronics said they were given whenever there was a blue light special going on. I got $3 off any $10 food purchase. And $5 off $20 health and beauty purchase.
So, what's the best deal you've found this weekend?
