I used Met Life. I paid $1000 a year. I just got my new bill and it's $1900. year. Did they think I wouldn't notice? The reason: My husband no longer works for the company that provided the discount. Now, that's a lie. When he quit seven years ago, they said it didn't matter. What does matter is that they are no longer in business. But to double. Then, it's because I live in Oklahoma, so did they not notice that before? Anyway, now, I'm shopping for new homeowners insurance. I hate insurance companies.
Now, my car owners insurance was $1200. twice a year from Met Life, but I switched to Geico, and it's $600. twice a year. Half the amount. Does this tell you anything about shopping around?

Oh and house insurance .. ha .. don't even get me started there! The only one's I found a decent price from (well still seemed high but cheaper then most) was nationwide.
Its always hard paying monthly for something you don't see .. you know what I mean? My car insurance only covers the other driver ... simply personal injury protection.
Some months I have to decide between paying for the insurance or paying for the electric and putting food on the table .. makes it hard when they are getting insane with their pricing.
Good luck ..
Yah I know it doesn't deserve capitaliztion
I had Progressive auto insurance, they were charging me $99 a month.
I switched to State Farm and they only charged me half that.
I got a 93 Dodge Spirit, that only cost me $24 a month.
Now, that car is gone and my hubby only pays for his truck.
Which is only $40 bucks a month.
Now, that's pretty cheap.
On my home insurance, at the same time, they told me I'd be required to fix my roof (make a claim) and repair my foundation to their specifications. Gee, I made the claim for the roof, but instead of spending the $14000 on my foundation, I found a new, cheaper insurance company.
