For the past few months, my wife and I have been trying to get pregnant. We would love to be parents, but it just hasn’t happened yet. So, we’ve been praying, a lot. It’s funny how you pray to God more when you need him. I can’t imagine his patience with us in treating him like a jeanie or a Santa Claus figure. Regina Spektor gets it write in her latest song.
My wife and I have been saturated with babies. It seems that everywhere we turn, one of our friends just had a baby or is pregnant. I feel like we’ve given 50 swaddling blankets as gifts for baby showers in the last year. A great place to buy them by the way is BlanketmyBaby. We’ve gotten to know that site pretty well. So, while we are busy online looking at pregnancy information, it just hasn’t happened for us. It’s funny how that works. You can have a Christian couple who want to have kids and can’t get pregnant. Then, you have single moms everywhere because some irresponsible man had a kid he didn’t want. Miserable. It’s been tough to have faith through this waiting period, but I trust in God’s sovereignty. If Abraham could trust until he was 100 years old, I think I can make it to 30.
We dream of the day of having a house full of kids. The scriptures say they are like arrows in your quiver. I want some flaming arrows to train and advance the Kingdom! One day, our house will hopefully be filled with toddlers running around, lots of toys, and the sweet sound of joyful music. We’ll keep praying. And if you are a praying person, feel free to join us.
