Our trip to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens was fun. It is roughly a two hour drive for us but well worth the trip. The gardens are free and the Birmingham Zoo is only a five minute drive away. Here is more information about Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
Come with me on a photo tour of the Japanese Garden. I see the entrance now.

The garden is full of texture, from the gravel of the paths, to the plantings and the structures built within the garden.

There are lots of doorways within the garden.

Tranquil seating areas

The tea house is not open today.

Looking back to the tea house.

A second structure, it looks like a small home.

A third structure. It looks perfect in this setting.

The pond. Unfortunately, all of the fountains and "streams" through out the garden are not running today.

This will take us over the pond.

View across the pond. Notice the turtles.

A closer view of the foot bridge.

There are many large Koi in the pond. This is only a small sample of the numbers and size.

More paths. So many shapes and textures for the eye to see.

The bell in the garden. I'll post a video of my daughter ringing the bell later today. It sounds more like a gong.
I hope you have enjoyed this photo tour of the Japanese garden.
