My doctor told me it's Psoriatic arthritis. I have severe and widespread joint damage, from psoriasis. There is a tendency for joints to stiffen up and sometimes to fuse together. “Generalized” disabling psoriatic arthritis joint destruction
and disability.......
Not something I really wanted to tell everyone. Anyone with psoriasis tries to hide it the best they can. Most people seeing it think you are contagious. It is NOT contagious in anyway. Just not a very pretty sight. I know there are more people then me with this condition. And figured they need to know this information. I had no idea how bad it could get until today.
I have had psoriasis since 1988. It was very small nothing to complain about. Just a speck on my elbows. But after our house fire in 1995, it went crazy.
I had been burned on my arms, legs and face. This trauma caused it to spread. My knees, elbows, ankles and hands have psoriasis. Sometimes when I am upset, it breaks out on my face.
So not only my knee, but my ankles, elbows and hands. I have been having pains in them as well. But not as disabling as my knee.
About 10-20% of people with psoriasis may develop an associated arthritis called psoriatic arthropathy, which causes pain and swelling in the joints and connective tissue, accompanied by stiffness, particularly in the mornings and late when resting in the evening. Tissues such as ligaments, tendons around the joints may be involved.
Psoriatic arthritis is a systemic rheumatic disease that can also cause inflammation in body tissues away from the joints other than the skin, such as in the eyes, heart, lungs, and kidneys.
Psoriasis can affect your heart in several ways; some ways are life
threatening (including heart attacks) and others are much less serious.
So between my high sugar, high blood pressure and psoriasis. She says I am an ongoing case for her. lol~ She really put the scare into me. I had no idea how much
psoriasis can effect the rest of my body. And the high sugar is messing it up as well.
She did some blood work, checking on my kidneys etc. The results will be back tomorrow. Hopefully that's okay.
So she put me on some meds. For the Psoriatic arthritis and my sugar and high blood pressure. My heart rate was 195! BP was 195 over 60. Sugar was 275. She did a blood check, that I had never seen done before. It looked just like a normal sugar tester. But took 5 mins for the results and gave a 3 month timeline of how high my sugar was. She said it showed my sugar was 405 everday since the last 3 months!
She was very concerned as well as I was. I go back in 2 weeks. Hopefully she can
get me straightened out. So I don't have to see a specialist.
So if you have psoriasis. Please take care of yourself. And see your doctor if able. I have been left untreated for lack of insurance. The free clinic would not do anything about it for me. Last time I was there. I complained about the pain the paoriasis was giving me. He told me there was nothing he could do about it! argh~
Thankfully my husband has insurance now. =) I hate to think of what would
have happened to me. Or heck what I'm going to still go through, because of not having insurance for so many years.

I just think they could have done something. All I got was yes that's psoriasis. Nothing you can do. Nothing I can do? No there was just nothing they would do. This doctor shook her head, when I told her about it. She said they could at least put me on some anti-inflamatory pill. *shakes head*
I was just really shocked at what all a skin condition could cause. I had no idea.
I think everyone with this condition needs to know. Especially if you are a diabetic on top of it.
Stress so really sets it off doesn't it... gr~ I break out under my eye. Just one eye and it's small spot, when I get mad. lol Goes away in a few days. so weird~
Yes, there will be side effects with the meds she said. One reason to keep track of my kidneys. *sigh* always something with this disease. But at least now I know and can head forward.
take care~
I developed psoriasis in the hospital after my surgery. The doctor wasn't concerned. I thought it was just stress and being unclean in the hospital. Now it seems to pop up when I'm badly stressed. I never thought about it being something to worry about.
I never thought it was something, to worry that much about either. Who'd a figured a skin condition doing so much? so unreal~
take care~
Good luck to you on Thursday. Let me know what happens.
take care~

My dh Tim is on a good BP med but it is so high, our copay is $60/month or
$180 for 90 days.
He was on a $4 walmart med, but that gave him a chronic cough and muscle
soreness.
Please keep us updated on your tests.
