*Twin Orphans* and hopefully a Rescue????????

                                         They are just SOOOO adorable!! Now myself and at least three others are trying to do a capture so as to take them to a safer area.
                                        The mother either died or was picked up by animal control over the week-end. One man said critter was dead in the street, other man said the mother was going in circles after possibly being hit by car, and county came out. Either way, we hope to have a "rescue" and "release" to a better area for them. wish us luck!

Oh my... I read many websites of people keeping racoons as pets!!! Mostly orphaned ones. Great idea - and they seem to love it lol. I would love to have one, but... got too many animals now. I hope they are safe and get to be released into the wild!

Tthey would have to be released into the wild Pamela, because of the high incidence of rabies in Florida. WQe had many as pets in kentucky when I was young tho. i just wanna hug the lil things,lol. They were not afraid of me at all.

What's really Funny. Danielle, is that we are trying to rescue these guys, and my sis called me from kentucky yesterday and said she asked her hubby if he would spend the night in their garden with some buckshot, because the critters were eating all the corn...Oh, my!

I don't know about where you are, but in Wisconsin you can get into big trouble trying to help out wild animals without proper license and authorization. I agree they're cute. I also agree that they can be a destructive nuisance if kept at pets. They have great dexterity and can open cabinets and other latches readily.

I Florida, one catches and callsthe animal control to pick up, John, but sometimes that takes a few days. Soooo, it isn't illegal to catch and release, but it IS illegal to keep them. The last ones we had up north ate an entire dresser, and my granny got So mad!

They are beautiful animals. But as John, Lee, and Randall have said, they can be quite destructive. I hope a safe place can be found to release them.

I haven't found out yet if the neighbor caught them, but will be on the look-out tonight.

darn...they haven't been spotted since I went on vacation, but the nearby trashcans have been pilfered on occasion...wonder?????
