So, I've found recently that a lot of my plots have staled and I haven't quite been able to get back into them or decide what to write or anything.
Then the other night, about a week or a week and a half ago probably, I had a dream that flowed pretty well. When I got up in the morning, I quickly jotted down all the major points that I had dreamt about and left to go to work. When I got back home, I reread what I had written and thought about it and I thought it sounded like a somewhat interesting plot idea!
I wasn't really quite sure about the idea (it involved shape shifters and I tend to stay away from things like that), so I consulted with one of my favorite novel consultants....Jennifer N.. Jenn seemed to like the idea, and one of my other friends really liked the idea and helped me brainstorm to work out some kinks in it, so I decided to run with it.
I'm pretty excited about it. I haven't fully "gotten into" this novel just yet since it's still in the beginning stages. I've only written chapter 1 so far and brainstormed. I'm still completely clueless about the ending. All I know is that my character ends up in one heck of a bind.
I don't really want to reveal the entire plot here (I'm very picky about sharing my plots and usually only do so with a handful of people because it always changes so much), so I won't bother to post the dream, but I'll leave you all with a rough little summary that will give you a clue what everything's about:
Jahzara (aka Zara) is an African girl trying to be normal, but she has a secret—a secret that sets her out from the rest. Like only a couple thousand other people in the world, she’s a shifter, and, like all shifters, she’s expected to train to become a leader. Her tribal elder takes her to a school that was founded especially for this purpose (it’s a flying ship, similar to the one from Treasure Planet in the attached picture), but while she’s there she runs into another shifter that seems a little TOO much like herself. His name is Ansel and, from all appearances, he seems fairly identical to her. He speaks French as his native language (being from France), he likes the same things she likes, and they’re both carnivore shifters, landing them on the same level of the ship. But there’s one slight difference—he’s not really a shifter, he’s a djinn. More importantly, he’s HER djinn, for now. So when acts of violence and aggression break out among the students, culminating in some “accidental” deaths, Zara begins to wonder just who else might have a djinn—and what exactly that djinn was saying. But her quest becomes deadly when, in destroying the djinn in disguise as a little girl, Zara finds the whole ship is turned against her and a mutiny is under way. Now it’s a matter of how long she can survive before fate catches up to her—or has it already?

Oh, and I really do love what I've heard about this so far. You better stick with it... or you'll be meeting the pink polka dotted elephants again. :P
AND NOT THE PINK POLKA DOTTED ELEPHANTS! -le gasp- -gets lots of peanuts ready- I just have to find time now. :( I've been sick and I just sat down to wait for my mother to get ready for a walk and the benedryl hit me and I passed out. xD
And my muse knows how to be normal! Er...kind of. ;)
I trained the elephants this year NOT to work for peanuts. They will eat them but they will still stampede until words are written. Muahahahahaha!
Ugh Benedryl. I take that too it can knock you out. Dr says I should take a 24 hour Claritin before going to my MIL's then a Benedryl at night on top of that.
*snicker* Must I remind you WHO your muse is? Normal? LOL!
Yeah, I thought about taking Claritin, but Benedryl works so much better for me. Fifteen minutes after I took it and I was already feeling a bit better. Knocks out my symptoms for quite a while usually.
Well...-shifty eyes- That depends on your definition of normal. So he smokes a little too much of everything. And enjoys the occasional drink every ten minutes or so. And he's got a favorite couch that he hasn't left in forever....but that's all fairly normal...right? RIGHT?
Lately the Claritin (I use store brand can't afford the real deal) isn't working. The attacks from cleaning just don't get touched. I usually take one then go to bed and I wake up still stuffy and having that tickle in my nose. :( Technically I'm still on the pill too since it's a 24 hour dose. *sigh*
lol smoker, lush, couch potato muse! I love it!
I'm so glad i just have the snippy faerie. :P
*thinks about some novels published and written* On second thought, maybe it is normal.
Maybe you should try benedryl. I had a high fever and felt awful three days ago and I've been taking one benedryl a day (whenever I can afford to be tired) and it started knocking it out the very first day. ^_^
Haha...see? I'M the normal one and YOU'RE weird. :P
I might have to switch. It was a while she suggested Claritin and it's not seeming to work much lately.
Jen ~ You're funny ~ L O L.
It works, though. Who wants to see a herd of them stampeding toward you?
And I can't even remember who started the pink elephants now...it's been years, hasn't it? They usually come out around November, especially. :)
Yes, those elephants work overtime come November. Poor, poor elephants. Rarely have time to sleep then xD
I Swear Clint thinks we've lost it. I told him today about the elephants. I really think he thinks I'm a nut now.
And it IS amusing. Makes me more prone to write when I know someone else is being tortured just as much as I am. :P Maybe more so. No, not more so. Your character likes you. Mine like to taunt me. :( Or threaten me, in Levi's case. xD
My characters are always nice (unless I choose another novel over them then they go on strike - lesson learned!) So, that does alleviate the torture a lot.
Taunt and threaten, gosh you get all the weirdos don't you? But you know I love their flair.
I love your characters, though. They're normal, but abnormal. It's a nice mix. :) Mine are just completely abnormal all around. xD
Haha we love each other's characters. Yeah they are... kinda like, erm, me?
BE BACK! . . .
Sammie said I should switch to Benedryl. I might have to but the drowsiness worries me as I'm alone with Gideon so I need to be alert.
I think it affects all sorts of people differently, though, so who knows how you'll react to it. I'm feeling better, now, though, and I didn't need Benedryl today or yesterday.
Send all hate mail in my care, okay? xD
What's the name of your published novel, just out of curiosity? I'll look into it. :)
