Wonderful post. I would add that I believe God's unconditional love for us always results in forgiveness for our failures and misdeeds.

Parents mimic this love in a small way with their children. They forgive their children's mistakes and continue to love them, even when they don't measure up to their hopes and expectations.

God is not a human being and bears no resemblance to one.

John: Thank you for your valued comments. I may be funny at times, but this post is serious. God's essence is unknown; He is a spiritual reality, far beyond man's knowledge or comprehension. All that we know of God is conveyed to us by His Manifestations or Prophets or Intermediaries, whatever one wishes to call Them, such as Moses, Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha, Krishna, and the others. This truth is well known throughout the world by all discerning hearts and souls.

I asked how you know that God "bears no resemblance" to humans . . . did He tell you that? Did any of these people you call Intermediaries tell you? Just how do you know that God does not bear a resemblance to His Created "children"? . . His "most noble beings" ?

Did you perhaps mean to say He may not resemble us? Or did you actually mean to say you know He does not?

How do you know anything about God at all?
That He is a He
that He has creatures
that He finds their behavior humorous?
Where do you get your material Thomas?

Another great post Thomas. I'm sure God's emotions run the gambit with us when He's not laughing but He loved us so much that He gave us the free will to be our selves, for better or worse.

I think that was a caricature (above, the face) of a very happy Buddha. Yes, I believe that GOD is quite content in knowing the real truth behind his creation and smiles in that regard more than any other expression. We bring our troubles and sorrows upon ourselves, all a part of learning our earth lesson of cause and effect.

I have had great mystical insights of the humor of GOD and have been "told" that I need to express that more myself, so far I have not ... :-)

Those "insights" are the understanding and realization that we are each and related members of the very same loving family, separated (seemingly) here on earth by prior (pre-incarnational) agreement to play these roles of ego individuality taking everything in great "seriousness" to the degree that some experience much fear and related hatreds even ... all a part of our eventual learning experience to discover cause and effect ... the resulting "insight" being that while we experience such here, we are really the very best of friends and will rejoice eventually in the here-after when we compare notes while remembering the earth experience of fear and disconnection after the fact as we experience the real truth of our abiding love.

Right, Donald. Thank you. Ever since "the beginning" God has provided all the tools and guidance that man needs to become perfect. With patience man will more and more employ these tools in his growing maturity. I can't wait.

"Perfection" begins with the "realization" that one is the temple of GOD and doing his/her best to emulate what they believe that GOD to be all about ... thus perfection "grows" as we do. To look up the definition one will find that it means (in addition to the common view) whole and complete, just what we become when our life becomes centered upon GOD as (+=-).

Well, I can and am serious a lot... for instance, I just found out my daughter who has had the same job for over 10 years is being let go because of the economy... she may end up living with me, now thats serious. oh well, God's will be done. hugs to all

God knows that we are vain and ever prone to sin. He is not surprised, nor dismayed. Man is sinful, not a child, knows exactly what he are doing wrong in God's eye's, but, sin gives him pleasure...so he continues in it. The pleasures of the flesh overwhelm the aspirations of the spirit.

Felix: Thank you for your insights. Just to use an analogy we could say that mankind goes through stages just as does the individual - from infancy to childhood to adolescence to adulthood. Man has come a long way since his creation, but he is not fully mature yet. We might compare his present stage of spiritual development to that of the adolescent. He stands on the threshold of maturity.
