Doctor Who.

I have been a fan of this BBC series since it first came out in 1963. You don't have to like SF because the entire series and premise was designed to be corny and campy; it's like the Monty Python of science fiction). So far there have been a total of ten "Doctors". The current Doctor is played by David Tennant (Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor, was my favourite). Next year Matt Smith is scheduled to assume the role of this longest running television series in history (45 years so far). Even though there have been several discontinuities during the run, like the Doctor himself, the series always manages to "regenerate" itself.

They're having a mini-marathon on TV today. They just showed the movie "Revenge of the Cybermen" and now are showing the current episode of the running series with David Tennant.

Any other "Whovians" out there?

I used to watch it years ago...and I've caught some of the recent shows...pretty good

A Whovian? Okay, I guess I am one. I thought the series was too corny for my tastes when I first saw it. But then my nephew (who used to stay at my house a lot) watched it so much that I couldn't help but be drawn in. I think it was the story line. The chintzy special effects don't even bother me now. The story line and character development are the real draw for me.

For years I was addicted to Jelly Babies and also had an absurdly long scarf at one time :)

I've been a "whovian" for years. Haven't watched the new one much, but have seen almost every other episode with all of the other Doctors. My all time favourite was Patrick Troughton, second favourite is John Pertwee. Tom Baker was good as was (can't think of his name right now) Tristan from All Creatures Great and Small. I've been addicted to British TV for years.
