Hooray! I’m alive again! Two hours ago UPS brought a new monitor to our house and my daughter had it connected to my computer and up and running a half-hour later. My son sent it and I am more grateful than I can express. He is the one who introduced me to Gather, and now, after two years I am a complete Gather addict. Reading and watching TV no longer fill the long unassigned hours of my life. If it were not for Gather I might have nothing better to do than looking at the inside of my eyelids for fun. Uh-Uh!
So I’m back in business writing and reading Gather articles again. We have only one phone line until we can get hooked up to another system Jane has in mind, so I will be on line only when it doesn’t interfere with her bread-winning job as a medical transcriber. I will be glad when we can get faster service. Right now it takes too long for me to download many other people’s articles to read and make comments. I don’t even try to download pictures and videos. With the built-in speakers on this new monitor I will have a lot of better options when I get connected to faster downloading.
I think Gather is a kind of life support for a lot of us older people. It gives us a way to exchange ideas and stories, and interact with other people without the inconveniences of actually meeting each other in person. So I'm look forward to the fun of Gathering with a lot of you again on a regular basis.
