Recently, I posted a pretend scenario illustrating human kindness having to do with life itself. I asked the reader to see themselves as needing emergency medical care and finding another with the same need and only the reader was in a position to help. Helping could endanger the reader’s life, but not helping would surely mean death for the other person. Everyone who read and responded as to what choice they would make gave me an answer that showed they would respond in a positive manner to help their fellow human, a stranger in need. And I was ‘chastised’ to a certain degree for the scenario in that the one who could help might be acting foolishly, and I, the writer, had not thought out the matter clearly enough.
The real reason I posed the questions was to illustrate another point. As I stated, all of the responders said it would be wrong not to help even if helping meant they might be making more trouble for themselves than they could handle. Trouble enough to cause their own death.
This is the point: There are women who find themselves pregnant and decide to end the life of their unborn child. They may claim that they are not physically able to carry the baby to term. Some may claim that they are not mentally up to the task. Many others just don’t want to be bothered. Many women evidently wait until the baby is about to be born before killing it.
There are diapers to buy, change and take to the curb (or wash). There are bottles to buy, formula to mix and bottles to wash and sterilize. Dates and dinners to cancel, doctor’s appointments to make. Stretch marks to live with, morning sickness and other discomforts. Many women find these ‘just too much to deal with’ and decide not to get that far.
These women are on a road. They are not ill. They are traveling, in a sense, alone. No one can help them carry the baby until he/she is born. But they decide that since this is the case, it is their ‘right’ to decide whether that is something they want to do. And many thousands decide that it is just too much trouble. It isn’t endangering their life, but perhaps their ‘lifestyle.’
However, like the stranger who falls, broken and bleeding onto the road, and in need of assistance, the unborn baby is in need also. The unborn baby is on life support. They are tied to the mother by a life line, totally dependent on her for everything. And yet, unlike the readers of my life threatening scenario, these women are unwilling to help this little stranger. Their own son or daughter will die because they don’t care.
I recently asked another Gather member who is in favor of women having the ‘right’ to abortion to place him/herself in the position of needing help on a road but being passed by. I asked this person to consider ‘do unto others’ as a reason for women to refrain from having abortions. This member has since said they live by those words.
Do unto others should include the unborn.

And if it was me who seemed to be chastising you, I'm sorry. It was not my intention. It was just me analyzing things too much like I often tend to do-the way my brain works and sometimes it is very annoying to me.
You did a better job of writing that situation in the previous article than I could have.
Thank you. And you weren't the only one....and that's okay. I didn't mind. In fact, it added to the entire article and helped me with this one.
unfortunately, I can't spell 'others' ....need to change it.
Pro-abortionists claim to be protecting women's lives and health... But in reality, they're protecting selfishness and murder.
Good article, SUUMS
I recall that account, though I too am unsure of the name of the entertainer. When I heard of it, it made me ill and angry.
Frank, you have called it as it is......."Pro-abortionists claim to be protecting women's lives and health...((and what they believe to be their right to end the life of their child)) But in reality, they're protecting selfishness and murder." (PERIOD)
Abortion is nothing more than the legalized murder of our most innocent, precious and unsuspecting children, Our own futures........ This staidly, cowardly and grievous act is commited on demand and for the most part unnecessarily against thousands, upon thousands of unborn babies each and every day in this "supposed to be civilized" county ........
Abortion is INDEED America's own Holocaust! Definition {An act of mass destruction and loss of life} and I don't care WHO may get offended at the use of that term! Over 40 MILLION lives have been brutally snuffed out since this insane law went into effect and any restrictions that were originally in place are now being circumvented by profit hungry organizations!..... God help those of you who kill the innocents, condone another's right to kill, and those of you who won't gather your gut strings together enough to even speak out against a crime you already know in your heart is so wrong, so brutal and such a horrific end to any child's life!
