I remember one time I was visiting Pikes Peak and saw several old women having lunch ontop of a really old grave site. I pulled over the jeep and asked them why they were eating there.
One lady who looked to be about 90 y/o told me, "This is where we live, we only came up for some fresh air."
I must've looked like I was going to faint.
She chuckled, "I have family buried here."
The tombstones were written in wood and somewhere, I have those rubbings. They were really old for the area.
She was right though, it is important remember them... I do believe it is comforting to them and to us.
I hope to be remembered someday.
I thought this was nice.
Carrie was too funny.
Funny how just today I was thinking of one of my deceased Grandmothers.

reclaiming life
My mother has been gone 20 years this month. I remember her as if she was still standing here with me....making a fresh pot of coffee. Dad joined her in 2001. He'd be asking for someone to pass the sugar.

I do love cemetaries....and the really old ones make history come alive.
