It was black. It was slimy. It was long and thin and snake-like. Moving sinuously through the murky green water, it did not look up, secure in the knowledge that it was, in fact, the most unappetizing creature imaginable.
Far above, her wizened face reflected in the rainbow slick of the river’s oily surface, the old woman waited patiently. Then with a swift motion she dipped her wooden tub and hauled it quickly up.
“Look at ‘em!”, she cackled. “He’s a monster, a bloody Crone and Bucket!” And he was – a veritable god among eels. And now, he was dinner.

As much as I love seafood, I don't think I've ever tried eel yet. I haven't run across it in the menu, I guess...
My Son-in-law hunts and he has trophies on his garage wall that I do not find decorative or worth crowing about... but he does. At least he keeps them outside of the house.
mind you, I've had smoked eel from the Kiel Canal in Germany. Not my favourite fish, but not bad...
And I'm no food weenie - I happily eat raw fish. Habanero salsa? Bring it on! Dried fungus (wood ears) - lovely. Shucky beans and corn bread, ambrosial. I used to get Steak Tartare for my birthday dinner, yet, the pork pie defeated me.
I rest my case.
Excellent response to the prompt!
