Oh, this sort of thinking pisses me off

On HLN news was a story about an 8 yr old girl ganged raped by 4 boys, ages 9-14.  They lured her into a storgage shed with gum.  They are arrested and in jail but... Here is what pisses me off.  The family is from Lyberia and they believe its the girls fault and she has brought shame on the family.   Oh that burns my butt.  That sort of thinking is just plain wrong, I don't care where you are from.  The police have the girl in protective custody.  I hope they don't let her family have her back.  It could be dangerous for her.

I agree, it could be very dangerous. There is no place for that kind of archaic thinking.

Yes, it would be dangerous for her. You are right! Everything is women's fault in those countries. Men can never do wrong. Culture differences of countries and different areas of the world is sometimes hard to swallow!

Oh no!! that girl should never go back to the family. They will kill her or have someone else do it. I truly hope they protect her from the family.

I will never be able to get my brain around the thinking that "honor" killing is OK. It would be nice if they would at least move into last century on this one. Yes, I would definitely be in fear for her life and she's too young to understand any of it don't you think?

She has to be feeling very abandoned now. She was burtilized twice, first by the boys and now by the family.

That poor child....and what about the boys? That is not normal behavior for kids that age either. They had to have learned it somewhere.

They lived in the projects, as the story called their area, I guess those lessons are numerous.

In their culture its always the woman's fault for being weak, being a woman, and men not being able to handle their libido.
That is horrible :( I can't imagine what the girl went through, or will think the rest of her life. :(

Good grief! She's only 8 years old! How could anyone from any culture think that an 8 year old would be responsible for this. Unless she had been sexually abused at home... Ignorance and hypocrisy knows no barriers.

In there eyes, if a woman, lets such a thing happen, no matter how old, they bring shame on the family. I know warpped thinking in any language.

Yeah, I just can't wrap my head around that kind of thinking. I hope the state keeps that child safe.
