While I have seen a decrease in my own postings, I have seen a decrease in postings across the board here in Gatherland also.

At the same time there seems to be an increase in the so called 'junk' or 'spam' articles posted instead. Advertisers in the guise of members, news hogs in the guise on concerned journalist, you get the drift. (?) A few of these I started flagging when I first became aware of them, but now have just left it to the Gatherland Police ... since it takes so much time to report all of them & be consistent (that is a shame in itself). But, I click on through them now & try to advert my time & eyes from their voyeuristic attempts.

As far as connecting to more qualified members in Gatherland, it just does not float my boat any more. Although I do enjoy a few selective members who I check in on in a semi regular basis. Sorry if it seems that I am coping out ... but there is more at stake than meets the proverbial eye here. At least right now for me.

World economics, health care going array, wars upon wars along with the deaths adding up daily, homeless americans facing depression on both fronts, tent cities abounding, money is becoming just a bunch of confetti numbers passed around & created out of thin air by our governments who think we don't know what's happening, bankruptcy within states & promisory notes floating in the wind, lies upon lies in the news that is making the matrix a cake walk, pending urban doom in major cities colliding in front of our eyes ...

oh that is enough for now!

But Gatherland just seems to plod on, as I do. Except my points take three times as long to add up to any real revenue ... alas' ... depression has hit Gatherland too.

I have severely curtailed my time on Gather for some of the reasons you have cited. I will in all honesty admit, however, that I no longer spend a lot of my time on my postings. It doesn't seem to make much sense and when I do, I wind up kicking myself for being so foolish as to throw away my precious time and energy.

I've cut back on the time I spend on Gather, too. When I earn only 10 points a day by checking out anything posted by the over 700 members I'm connected to; it's not worth my bother...at least not 10 hours worth to earn a point an hour. I even cut back on publishing since I'm not picking up squat for that, either...a couple points for sharing a post. I used to 'make' over $100 a month. I last cashed out at the end of May...and I still don't have enough points for a $25 payment...and probably won't until some time in mid-August. Spending that much time to get such a small payment isn't even worth it now. It's a good thing I have some actual friends I've made here...or I'd be history like so many others have already become.
