I remember that they relaxed me when I was younger. That repetative, lulling sound.
Now I could go either way.

I hate mosquitos and wasps the most.

As a kid I really liked cicadas, but I haven't heard them in many, many years.

Oh, yes. In Dixie Valley, Nevada, we had some willow trees out near the artisan well. When the cicadas came out, I would pitch a tent (actually a piece of canvas stretched over some willow branches) and beg to be allowed to sleep out there. Things went really well until I was stung by a scorpion. Mom wouldn't let me sleep there any more, and I didn't beg as hard either. LOL

I was brought up in Brooklyn, NY where we didn't hear any cicadas - we had flies, mosquitoes, bees and wasps. I had never even heard of a cicada until I moved to NJ. About 4 years after we moved there, the Cicadas came to visit. I took my son for a walk and got attacked by them - they were flying all over us. I ran back inside and didn't come back out until I stopped hearing their call. We moved about 9 years ago, and last year I had heard on tv that the Cicadas were coming but I never heard or saw them. I guess they didn't like our area - even though we have a forest 200 feet behind our house.

I hate them so much. I also hate bees, wasps, hornets, and mosquitoes.

oh I don't like many bugs, but I've learned that mostly they leave you alone if you leave them alone with a few exceptions. I don't like pest bugs not at all...but cicadas are out to get me, I fear them, they bring on a terror that will turn into panic at the very sight of these creatures.
