Yesterday I visited the Fire Museum in my town. The museum is housed in a retired 1901 firehouse. The firehouse had a two lane bowling alley in the basement. The firemen used to have tournaments there. The alley wasn't part of the exhibit but they did have a pin in one of the display cases.

What I found interesting is during the winter months runners were added to the horsedrawn fire engines to turn them into sleighs. Rollers were added to the floor to make it easier to move the engine in and out of the fire house. One of the rollers was exposed in the museum. Once winter was over the runners were removed, the rollers were covered up.
