The village of Oberammergau in Bavaria has two main "industries." One is the Passion Play, performed once every 10 years. The other is wood carving! There are religious and secular carvers, figures and flat, picture-like carvings. Most stores don't appreciate it if you take photos inside, but I took lots of the windows... Let me show you some of what we saw on our recent trip there.
Enjoy!

A carved picture. The title is "The good old days."

Reflected in this window you can see one of the "painted houses" across the street...

Both religious as well as secular figures in this window.

This one says "Honor the furrow which nourishes you!"

The "Kräuterhexe" refers to a woman who knows herbs and medicinal plants. In medieval times such women were considered witches - "Hexen."

Easter eggs...

A collection of animals

A harvest picture

Various Nativity scenes

A golfer. He is outdoors! (And well-tethered by the ankle, lol!)

Ten stars from me.
I wish we would have had time to visit there for a while - we only drove through.
