Though it was expected on almost a daily basis, it is with a heavy heart, I have to report that I got the call today.
My Ex-Husband, Gordon Waller, of the pop duo Peter & Gordon, suffered a heart attack last night and they were not able to revive him.
He drank and smoked heavily and no one could stop him. He went the way he wanted I suppose.
Gordon was 64 on the 4th June, he died in CT. where he had been living, we divorced in Sept 07.
Although I would rag on him in articles and comments and poetry on Gather, we were friends for 46 years and he was my first guy!
He has two sisters, and two daughters and a grand-daughter in Britain.
I am still in a bit of shock, this house looks like he just went out!
Forgive me if I don't banter with comments today.
Georgie

R.I.P. Gordon Waller.
My sister's ex husband just died a couple of weeks ago... she didn't do very well for a couple of days.
Hope you'll be okay, Georgee.
I lost XI in 2000 - nearly 30 years after we divorced. It was still a sad shock - we, too had become friends again.
I am sorry for your loss.
thanks Debra, that is Bobby Vinton's version, this is P&G's
am very saddened by this...as you said,,,he was headed in a downward spiral and just couldn't stop--
and i know how connected you were with him still...
very very sorry, my friend!
love
foggy
i still have some of his records wont part with them they are memories of great times
Thanks for posting to Fugitives from Ignorance, Conformity, and Peer Pressure
I did have a serendipitous trip through Peter & Gordon's music, listening to some great old songs from my teen years.
So sorry for your loss, for although you two were divorced, that doesn't mean it's not still your loss.
Another fan...

Like I said when you emailed me to let me know this very sad news, you have my deepest sympathy and prayers my friend and so does Gordon's family. He will be missed. I know you tried your best to get him to stop drinking and smoking but unless he was willing to stop there was nothing more you could do for him I guess. I am so sorry my friend but at least he knows you cared enough to want him to stop. Remember that I am here for you if you need to talk or need a shoulder to lean on or cry on. I know it is not easy for you to lose someone you loved very much for so long. I will always cherish the interview that Gordon did with me for our Elvis Presley Fan Club Newsletter. May God Bless Him And May He Rest In Peace!
Love Your Friend Always,
Gigi
I am so very sorry for your loss, Georgie........
yesterday I had so many of my and Gordon's old friends here and the outpouring of love that was abundant in this house was wonderful.
For Gordeon
for Gordon
a voice is now silent
part of an invasion
not military
not of privacy
not unsolicited
it was of song
of love
of peace
flipsides of equal force
we wore out the grooves
while grooving to the sound
a portrait on a jacket
the warmth of resonance
harmony in vinyl passion
kept us warm on a cold Winter's night
kept us cool on a scorching Summer's day
treasures we will always retain
as our memories get lost in sweet refrain.
