After procuring our room at The Provincetown Inn in the West End, Fran and I decided to put on our bathing suits and go for a swim in the pool and rest for awhile before going out on the town. Provincetown at night is an incredible sight...teems of milling people walking the cobblestone street, shops and galleries and restaurants hawking their wares.
During the winter, Provincetown is home to a year-round population hovering around 3,500 ...but in the summer, the number swells to more then 50,000. According to a brochure, you can
"lose yourself in the Commercial Street throngs, or ditch the crowds on a dreamy bike trail through Province Lands or a walk along the moors. You can dress up, dress down, wear a tutu, chain mail, ten-inch heels or pasties - and that's just men."

Walking uptown, we decided that first we wanted to check out the "big mansion" on the hill that we had seen from our deck. To our surprise, it was an Inn. We wandered up the stairs leading to the gardens and was completely in awe of the view from the patio.

Enchanted with the place, we decided to go inside.

Overlooking the bay, we spotted this beautiful sculpture.

By now, our tummies were growling so we decided to try out The Red Inn's fare, the restaurant across the street from Land's End and the one the gentleman at the pool had recommended.

After a lovely meal, Fran and I decided to walk downtown and enjoy the sights....

I loved this cozy little cottage...just perfect for two.

And the nightlife....ummm...best not say anything about the nightlife...I don't want this article to be flagged.

Black Dog sweatshirt is a "symbol" of Matha's Vineyard...but what I like about them is that they are "super warM"...perfect for spring nights in Australia in September.
I was telling my daughter about this beautiful town in MA and then thought to tell her get on Gather and look your article up. One of her friends was just there last weekend and had beat me to the punch. She knew all about it. ALL ABOUT IT. I felt deflated. Guess the important part was that she knew how artistic and beautiful a place it is.
