Although in recent years most critics hate Woody Allen's movies (probably because they disapprove of his marriage and his fascination with the older man-much younger woman theme), we really enjoyed his new one, WHATEVER WORKS. It is cute, quite funny, and expresses some philosophical ideas I share.
Also I just saw a lousy movie: Public Enemies. It was dull, badly written, visually too dark and very dragged out. The action sequences were done with hand-held video and quick cut so you couldn't see what was going on. It's that kinetic crap that is meant to appeal to MTV fans, who apparently believe that the quicker the cutting the more exciting the movie. It was that kind of stuff that made the second Spider Man and the latest Bourne film stink.
