There is nothing like a baseball game, and nothing like a small, home town, independent league baseball team. The Long Island Ducks are one of the eight teams of Atlantic League Professional Baseball, located at Citibank Park in Central Islip, Long Island.
Excuse me, I said ducks, you are Canada geese. I'm trying to make a point here. No I don't have any tickets to give you. You know if the health system is as good in Canada as they say why are all these Canada geese here on Long Island? Now where was I? I'm sure you are all familiar with the standard activities that go on in every ballgame, the coaches exchanging lineups with the umpire, the playing of the National Anthem, etc. But in the smaller parks, things also happen between the innings and between the first and second half of the innings. They include things like ...
The Running of the Bases
Kid v Mascot - Guess who looses every time?

Announcements of Birthdays!

The Toilet Seat Toss

Football

The Human Backstop

Cleaning of the field

The vendors dancing between pitchers

So as you can see, we root for the home team; if they don't win at least we have all the other stuff going on.

This is a great photo-essay. Like most I watched [most do watch it don't they?] the All Star Game last night . . . in my library in Saint Louis [UGH yet again]. We used to go to games, but baseball like most of America has become about nothing but the money! As a result we enjoy going across the river to Cahokia to see the Great Grizzly Bears ... not unlike your Ducks!
