Read this article from the New York Post about Obama need to control blogging sites, and stop what this author calls rumors. What would a law against Internet blogging mean to a site like Gather? What happened to freedom of speech? If a Republican presidential appointee tried this, he'd be ousted. This along with trying to gag right wing media groups is now reaching its tentacles out to Internet blog sites. Here's the article. You decide. Our rights and our money are being eroded. America wake up, quickly. This is a Czar of some unknown post who wrote a book, "On Rumors." He's a Harvard Professor who will be given power to limit speech on the Internet. I guess Obama feels we're not bright enough to know who and what are own sources are. Be afraid, be very afraid.
Here's a quote from the article:
"Although obscure," reported the Wall Street Journal, "the post wields outsize power. It oversees regulations throughout the government, from the Environmental Protection Agency to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Obama aides have said the job will be crucial as the new administration overhauls financial-services regulations, attempts to pass universal health care and tries to forge a new approach to controlling emissions of greenhouse gases."
Another words, he can silence opponents.

"What happened to freedom of speech?"......it's going out the window along with freedom to smoke.
(sorry i'm on that soapbox again; can't help it!!)
:)
I don't see that happening. Even with his posse, B-Rock doesn't have the cahonies to attempt this.l
I don't think they'll succeed, but we better be vigiliant.
they will get it done. And all of us will be done also
They are just trying to prop up the case to get the fairness doctrine passed.
We need to tell our people in washington they work for us. and we do not want Obama to be able to tell us what we can say or write on the internet. or any where else. We still have freedom of speach { at least I think we do}
I just don't see it happening. That just doesn't even make sense why they would want to stop people from blogging... I can't really give an opinion though without reading the article and getting the entire story, and I wasn't able to because the link closed out all of my internet pages that I had opened and I had to reopen new ones. I am not going to try agian because I don't want more problems.
" I guess Obama feels we're not bright enough to know who and what are own sources are. "
I wonder where he ever got THAT idea?!?
from HIS followers and supporters...
Like Sheryl the sheep.
Hahahahaha! Carol, Carol, Carol. Can't you tell the difference between a sheep and a dog? Thanks for continuing to make my point.
I know in recent years people have gotten in trouble for sharing personal and private things on the internet (like that white house intern a few years ago) but a lot of blogs aren't controversial....
I guess we're heading for a country more like North Korea and China faster than I would have predicted, however, last year I did predict this during the campaign. It's not a reach when you understand where Obama was coming from in his education, his contacts, the people he was close to and even what he was saying so eloquently through his teleprompter. We better get mobilized fast people, or websites such as this will be a thing of the past we will tell our grandchildren about after it's gone.
I agree Barb - how do we wake people up? Every time I try, I get lambasted with names and bias comments. They cannot believe they have been decieved and will defend Obama till our dieing end.
This is just more frightwing fearmongering. They need to keep you people riled up and scared, and of course, having ceded the thinking parts of your brains to the big druggie, it's always working.
I would suggest you go and look up the number of websites for the American Communist Party, the Socialist Party and then figure out that you have been duped in to supporting a president who is Marxist and will attempt to bring this nation to it's knees so they will have control and power over mainstream Americans.
I would suggest you actually try to regain that part of your brain that listening to too much frightwing noise has rendered inactive. You've apparently been duped since St. Reagan.
This what I have been warning people about, if the administration is considering censoring conservative talk radio it is merely a matter of time before they target other forms of media. The Obama Administration realizes that the internet is uncontrollable compared to cable news, the radio, and the printed press. In fact, the internet is truelly the last form of unregulated media!
Good article, I give it a 10! Regardless of what the ignorant left wing pundit above me has to say about it.
I am in love with Mr. Sledge.
You are so right Josh Sledge in that the media doesn't play anything that would be detrimental to Obama's character. I just saw a video of him and President Sarkozy of France joining the Russians at a conference, and the Russians shook the hand of Sarkozy, but not of Obama, none of them did. It was an obvious snub, but the mainstream media has not played it at all. If you care to see it, you can look for it under Obama's Handshake Snubbed by Russians on UTube.
Is he banning books and newspaper ect. too.
It's just a matter of time.
This is truly the way third world countries are run and Obama has learned the lessons well of how to do it. We will be just like North Korea, China and Cuba along with other dictatorial run nations soon if we don't speak out. You know, it's very interesting that Jefferson saw his party as being the Country Party and the elites being the Court Party. The trouble with the Country Party was that they were in the country and the communications back then weren't very good. The Country Party was the party of the common man, the laborer, the non-landowner. He said that if the people could be mobilized, he would have a strong contingency. I believe our time has now come with the internet and the opposition, the Court Party aka Democrats, are trying to squelch it. This is our time, and we need to make the best of it!
What a crock..the pubs. are really reaching now...for anything!
"If a Republican presidential appointee tried this, he'd be ousted"
No..they would be too busy with waterboarding & listening in on private citizens conversations, reading their email, etc. just like Bushy did.
Dan;
The Republicans and their freelance agents are doing a great job of keeping these people scared. It's too bad that they actually believe this stuff, but it's just another indication of how dumbed down the Republican base has become.
Most of these people actually believe that Sarah Palin is a viable presidential candidate.
First off, I am a conservative, even you with all of your conceited liberal snobbery can understand that fact, I for one never thought that Sarah Palin was a viable candidate. However, if you are going to run around bashing her supporters it is only fair that you also attack all of the liberals who supported people like Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich, and Ralph Nader (the left-wing version of Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan, and Ross Perot rolled into one man) during the last election and the one before it.
The Republican Party isn't the only political party that has hopelessly unelectable candidates for the White House. The politica left is equaly stoked with people who will never progress in their political careers are be anything more than radical pundits who appear on talk radio or the occassional interview on MSNBC or CNN.
Furthermore, liberal bloggers have been hard at work too pressing the Democratic Party for even more outlandish reforms than even Obama and Biden are unwilling to make. You have a one dimensional way of looking at things Ali.
Sludge;
You're not bright enough to know the difference between simple discernment and snobbery. Howard Dean is a physician, an accomplished politician and a brilliant man: his fifty state strategy was the primary reason the Democrats kicked the Republicans ass in the last election. I admire Dennis Kucinich and his right wing counterpart, Ron Paul, as men of ideas, even if I don't agree with all of those ideas. As for the rest, you shouldn't go off your meds before you start typing.
You did ok in the first paragraph, but the second is another incoherent mess. Do you actually read before you type?
One dimensional? Coming from you?
HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
have any of you read this yourself
i will be at the library reading this to find out if this was taken out of context
Jule;
It's from the New York Post, which is almost like a real newspaper, kind of like Newsmax is a real news source, or Faux news is fair and balanced.
Yes I realized that when I looked into it.Alas so much hype goes around we need to ck our sources well. Any step reguarding feedom of speech is unexseptable in my way of thinking.there is already an uprising at this time over this thank the powers above .This will be stoped in the tracks I believe asap. but if at sixty I still have to picket lay down or be chained to to keep free speech i will of course be be there to fight one more time
there is an internet czar.
We know from hearing him speak, he attacks those who choose to publicly disagree with him. And when someone becomes a dictator, one of the first things along the way is to control the airwaves. And newspapers.
And think about what Iran did when the election was challenged: they tried to shut down the web. What else would an internet czar do?
I read the article and I have also heard abou this guy on tv. They want to regulate what is written and this guy is saying it is to keep people...not just the president...from being written about. But from what others have said about it, there is more than just wanting people to be nicer to others.
What else would an internet czar do?
He would circumvent the Congressional powers as he makes policy under the Executive office, and that's Obama folks. So, given the fact that Obama has associated with questionable people throughout his entire life , where do you think, and I use the term loosely for the libs here as they simply follow the teachings of the liberal state-run media, this will lead our nation?
