We went to the Starlight Drive-In last night, the first time I've been to a drive-in in many years. For $7 each, we saw Star Trek and Transformers II. Of course, since it had to be dark, the movies didn't start until 9:30 and it was after 3 AM when we got home, but it was fun. I loved the new Star Trek a lot, but Transformers was way, way too long, and the last 40 minutes would have seemed endless to me if it hadn't been 2 in the morning.
Still, it was a great experience and I highly recommend the Starlight for anyone in the Atlanta area who wants something fun to do. They are open every day of the week all year round. On the weekends, there is a flea market there until 4 PM. You can bring your lawn chairs and set up in front of your car to watch the movie. They encourage you to come early and bring coolers (no glass bottles or alcohol) and picnic and they have an area where you can grill for free. There were lots of families there and kids were running around before the movie skateboarding and playing frisbee. There were white, black, and Hispanic families and a range of income levels. The whole thing was really enjoyable. I highly recommend it!
