I asked the question the other day about who has planted gardens this year. I have one but it's not in the ground, maybe next year on that one.
Anyway, I bought "Earth Boxes" and plant in them. They are cool little container gardens.
They are rectangular in shape like a window box. You place the grate and drain in the bottom, insert the fill tube, fill with soil, plant, cover and water. Pretty simple. You use black covers and cut holes for the plants to grow through. Not really necessary if inside but outside it prevents weeds and your soil drying out. Then you add water in the fill tube until water comes out a hole on the front of the box.

Well tomorrow will be two weeks since I planted them and about half my seeds are growing. So tomorrow I will replant what's not coming up and move them into the greenhouse.
What's in the boxes?
Radishes, carrots, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, zucchini and bell peppers.
The green house has vents on the roof that are temperature regulated and it works great. I am so glad we brought it here as the growing season is very short.

wow i love the green house, looks very cool
awesome look pretty easy to do also
That's a cool green house, Teresa. Good luck with your garden.
That looks good and sounds great. I like a lot of the vegtables you are growing.
how neat! glad to hear that it is working out for you!
Hope they all grow and give you great veggies!
pretty cool set up you got there. :)
I always wanted a green house- fantastic!
Very cool! Never got to finish my garden or clean out my greenhouse, it's still on the To Do list, LOL
I love the non-weeding part. The birds have dropped on my garden so much, and the red squirrels are so aggressive (they actually dig up my herbs at the roots and throw them!) that container gardens seem to be the way to go.
Can I ask where you found your greenhouse?
It is called a Solar Prism Greenhouse and I bought it from a company in Oregon but have learned that they have since moved to Missouri.
Thank you!
I am so jealous! That looks awesome! I have always dreamt of having a little greenhouse! Now, I am going to put this on my honey-do list!!!
sounds like a yummy garden.
didn't plant a garden this year..just four tomato plants in containers..
You've done a very good job
Wow, you do have a short growing season! My parents plant a garden each year and they are already harvesting onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, and squash. I guess that is one reason we put up with all this heat and humidity in Texas!
I love your greenhouse, I want one & it is something we want to put in when we get our next house.
Great greenhouse! We haven't put up our greenhouse for the winter yet but it is wonderful to be able to get fresh greens and vegetables in the middle of winter. Have you ever read any books by Eliot Coleman? He is from Maine and has great information for growing organically and with greenhouses. Enjoy!
No, but I will make a note of that, thanks!
Love the green house. We saw the earth boxes on an insert that came with our Burpee's seed order. We decided to construct our own using large containers we had and several we bought at the local dollar store. Almost everything is thriving in them. Our weather has hindered a few of our plants but we are supposed to get warmer temps this week. We are eagerly anticipating peppers and tomatoes and have already enjoyed several bunches of lettuce.
Neat on the greenhouse. We've never tried using one with our garden. Gardens can be hit or miss at times. Like last year all our pepper plants died (and I like to pick them right off the vine for salads!) So far we're good this year
We did plant a garden, just tomatoes out back of the house, we produced nothing. The plants grew, just didn't produce. I think something is wrong with the soil composition, but my dh is hard headed and won't take the soil to be tested.
Now along the fence line we planted cucumbers and those are doing fine.We have picked enough cucumbers to be able to share with our family and sell the rest.
Thanks for the words of confidence as to dealing with my current situation.
looks like you are set for some nutritious vegetables.
