Got to the pier early as the show started at 7PM and wanted a good place to put my chair. Trouble is, it filled up quickly and I was in the middle of about 500 people! Trying to get out, 3 times, to get to the bathrooms was a feat of engineering!
A young girl from North Carolina called Tift Merritt opened for Joan and was very good too!
These are some stills before and after the show, and during, the video, I will upload to the videos section, as I don't have embed codes for personal videos to go HTML here.
I especially like her singing the last verse of "Don't Think Twice(It's Alright)" in a Dylanesque way!
So I will let you know when you can view them!

I love her singing and have a lot of old songs of hers. Great pictures. Hopefully she will come into Denver area.
HEY GEORGIE!!!!~ =D Did ya have FUN?!! =D Sounds like you did~
it was so mellow and cool. just a good vibe! the videos are loading now, about three already up of her singing. Enjoy!
I fell in love with Lena Horne in 1945, and I fell in love with Joan Baez in 1955. I got to see and hear Lena Horne live in about 1986, but I have never seen or heard Joan Baez live.
She is touring her new LP now!
My daughter saw her not too long ago in either Idaho or Washington State... not sure of the venue.
I'm proud of you for figuring away out to the restroom. Glad you had fun

i can't imagine anyone not knowing who se is, for the past 50 years she has been consistent. The early days with Guthrie (Woody) songs and Bob Dylan were the good years!

I just love her voice. Does youtube have a version of Bangladesh?
hurt heart
I don't know poddar. I didn't get these from YouTube, on posted them on You tube! LOL
This is from a show I saw live on Thursday.
You mean Bangladesh from George Harrison?
I fell in love with her way back in my hippy days. Got to meet her when I went on a backpacking trip to big sur. Met her at a hot springs lodge in big sur, boy was she beautiful ! What a songbird !
I was at Esalon too!
I lived up in Big Sur (Lime Creek Rd.) after the Monterey Pop Festival in '67
I wonder if she remembers the young college student she occasionally gave a ride on the back of her Lambretta from the coffee house to the parking lot on the other side of the river.
I know he does :)
You're right, Larry. A beautiful songbird.
You know, she probably does! She is a Capricorn after all, and we tend to remember our pasts better than most!
Comforting news. Thanks.
Good picture, BTW.
thanks! It was like being at Woodstock 40 years on, same crowd, older!
Well, it's not exactly Joan Baez, but I'd remiss if I didn't plug the upcoming 3-day Sausalito Art Festival.
On the main stage Monday, by example, we will be entertained by the Heroes of Woodstock:
Jefferson Starship, Canned Heat, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Tom Constanten, Hosted by Country Joe McDonald.
(I will of course be holding forth as Captain of Beer Booth #3, right next to the stage. Tough job but somebody has to do it :)
When does this happen? I was thinking of flying up to see a friend who just made it through Chemo and lives in S.F.
It's over Labor Day weekend (3 days). Volunteer and you get free admission, T-shirt, etc. (I only have openings for Monday 3-5 left)
The schedule is:
Labor Day Weekend 2009
Friday September 4th · 6:00pm · Preview Party
Saturday September 5th · 9:00am - 6:00pm
Sunday September 6th · 9:00am - 6:00pm
Monday September 7th · 9:00am - 5:00pm
The URL is: Sausalito Art Festival
Damn! I would be there, but am gettin surgery on the 26th of August to fuse my cervical vertabrae, a laminectomy, and am not allowed to do anything but walk on flat surfaces, no travelling for about 6 weeks minimum!
Have a beer for me OK?
We'll miss you.
Good luck with the surgery. About to get some orthoscopic surgery on a torn rotator cuff. Not as serious as yours, but I understand the rehab is a PITA.
Oh well, fodder for another article :)
Take care.
I am trying to be as pragmatic and stoical as I can with the thought of it. I have to think it will help me regain my balance, I fall much too much! i do not relish the idea of wearing a cervical collar for up to 3 months, 24/7, even in the shower, especially in the heat of the SoCal Sept and Oct and even Nov!
No fun. Sounds better than a sling (left arm) for 6 weeks.
I'm feeling better already.
Good luck.
rotor cuffs heal well. I am not relishing this elective surgery to in essence, break my neck!
