No, I'm not talking about the movie Aladdin or a special vacation. I sure hope I've peaked your interest, though. What am I talking about? Books.
I grew up with a love of books. I think I got that from my mom, because she would even read while we were watching TV. She was an avid reader, and I'm so glad that she passed it along to me.
What's so great about books, you ask? It is a whole new world. You can do thinks vicariously through characters in books that you could never do in real life. You can dream. You can go to new places, places that don't even exist outside of real life. You can become anything you want. A Detective. A Dancer. A Magician. There's a world of possibilites just waiting to be explored.
Do you know one of the best things about books? They're really cheap. You can check books out at your local library without paying a penny provided that you get them back in time. My library even has a system that you can order books that they don't have through other libraries to be delivered at their library.
If you haven't yet checked out your local library, I would highly encourage you to do so. If you say, "Books just aren't my thing." I would encourage you to try again. It's amazing where your imagination can take you with just a few words.

I have been grown up with books and recently computer has been added up. I wish good luck on your wonderful voyage.
i love to read, too! I got it from my mom, and I think I've passed it on to my girls, too! I could spend the entire day reading and not feel like I was stuck inside all day. Great post!
I love books!
It is fun to be in another world for a while.
When I saw the title I thought it was funny because the kids and I were just watching the video on Youtube.
I am one of those people that reads a book while watching t.v.!
Also a great place to get rid of your old books & get "new" books in return is www.paperbackswap.com
I love reading and my first son started reading and writing when he was 2. So, reading is in the family. Recently too my 2 year old son has taken to reading he knows his A B Cs and 123 to 20.
Reading is fun and the library is a fun place to be. thanks for the writeup.
I am a library hound. Every year I read more books than the year before.
thnx!
I got my love of reading from my mom as well. One of the best things she ever gave me. I still remember my first novel, Cujo, by Stephan King. She had just finished reading it, and at 12 I was really curious. That was the begining and I have not stopped since! I love to read!
Yes, I agree; but I can never seem to get them back in time even though I usually read them in the first week.
Woo Hoo. I love books too. My library hasn't expired yet.
I grew up with books and movies, but I prefer books to movies. Hence my several thousand books :)
Excellent article. I always think when people tell me they are "too busy to read" that they are missing out on one of the most joyous parts of life.
Thanks for posting your article to the Gather group, Bookin'.
My life would have been a dreary dungeon without books. Thanks Sarah.
My mother also instilled a,*Love for reading, and I became an avid reader at a very young age!
From a fellow enthusiast,*Good Post!
Jody!
I practically have a whole library of books right now in my house! Seriously, I love romance novels and have a ton I still haven't read yet.
I've always loved reading bunches.
Between Larry and I we have a nice sized library here at home. Half Priced Books knows us by name LOL. Larry loves to read. He always has a book going.
I like to read but have problems reading. My eyes don't cross and to focus on a page to read your eyes must cross. This means I tend to either reread the same line twice or I skip lines. Either way it makes getting through a book challenging. I do read but it really has to grab me since I have to work at it.
Larry(husband) was a children's librarian. He would be thrilled to hear all of you extolling the vertues of reading. Read a couple for me.
I used to love half price books. Here we have an Edward McKay which is similar.
I frequent thrift stores and find incredible books. That said, I'd like to add: if you love a book, write a thank-you note to the author and buy at least one of their titles NEW so they get some profit from it and the publisher stays in business.
Books are indeed magical. Ideas can fly.
