Maybe she likes to be close to her man? The idea of sticking your head through the cutout crotch makes me cringe. She is certainly a daring young woman! This definitely takes frugality to a whole new level...

Now, when I took ballet, serious 3+ hours a day ballet, we would take our worn out tights, and cut the crotch out, and cut the legs off. Then, we'd reuse them as sports bras that lined our leo's without the thick bulkiness of a fabric sports bra under it. They worked great.
But, a fashion statement they were not.
