NO? Why? Are all Congressmen and women trustworthy? Is the CIA not a secret police force. Right now, Democrats are demanding the Leon Panetta reveal that he indeed has knowledge that the CIA has kept information from Congress. At first, Panetta denied it, but now, the good two shoe congress demands full truth. But can they handle the truth? Are we safe with some perverts who play with frozen money in their freezers or have affairs in Venezuela etc. to have full knowledge of secrets that keep our country safe. If the CIA reveals all, there is no CIA. It is the job of the CIA to disseminate information, not to dish it out like candy for Congress to use as a partisan weapon.
Do we really want the truth? Do we really want to know how much the Taliban is plotting against us, and how the CIA keeps secrets to keep us safe. Do you trust Congress or do you trust the CIA to do the job Congress hired them to do?
I'm going with the CIA.
I know Obama wants open government, but he is quickly realizing much to his credit, that that is not always realistic.
I have a friend who was a Secret Service Agent, and he has a much different perspective on secrets.

I am not sure why you feel if the CIA was more open with the public aka the people that pay their salaries why they would cease to exist.
The CIA can't lie to congress. Congress represents us and it is their oversight that ensures our freedom. More attention should be paid to the fact that congress abuses their privilege, through leaks to the media, and those like Patrick Leahy who have actually been caught should not still be in office.
The president also has executive privledge to classify information. That is equally important.
Congress represents us.......
yeah right........
they represent whomever shows up with the biggest briefcase full of money,,,,,,they only care about the votes when it comes to the people, Jeff.......
Randee good point. That does not excuse violating the system. Perhaps I should have said that congress is SUPPOSED to represent us. Either way, excusing the CIA for lying to congress is just as bad as congress abusing it's power. I blame the media for picking ideological sides and slowly accepting the way the system has become as the biggest problem.
Congress represents themselves with their big bellies and attitudes. They don't serve us; they serve themselves.
that's okay Jeff........
I knew you meant to say SUPPOSED TO.....
DC is one of the biggest money sucking holes in the world...next to Great Britain....
government has really caused ALL of the problems we're facing now....
No way do I trust anyone who is an elected official in our government.....they lie to get their jobs.....they make empty promises that only morons would believe.....and they think that as long as they have our money, they should be able to dictate what their dream of a "free" America is.......
Amen!
we do look for the best liars, killers, theives and bad people to hire and train for these jobs Jack.......
what do we want ? ? ?
a secure nation ? ? ?
or not ? ? ?
i'm not very literate on this subject so forgive me if i appear stupid.
what is the chain of command for the cia? they should divulge information to who ever they are responsible to, in the event they have something of importance to tell. (did that make sense?) why do those elected to congress always feel they have a right to know everything, when they themselves divulge nothing about themselves?
The CIA was started under FDR and they are to disseminate information but as they deem it safe to do so. Do you trust Congress with secrets? So many of them are busy having affairs and taking care of themselves, I don't trust most of them. I do trust the CIA and the Secret Service as these are dedicated people who chose to work for low salaries and no fame.
no i don't trust congress!!! they keep secrets about themselves but blab about everything else to make themselves look more knowledgeable. i wouldn't tell them my sh*t; why should the cia tell them their sh*t?
In my opinion, the CIA should only answer to the President. Any information passed on to Congress should be his call only. That which he would not pass on remains in a "need to know" status
