I have been doing Atkins for 16 weeks and I have finally lost the first 20 pounds. For most of the time I have been doing the induction phase. I am really dissappointed that it has taken so darn long. I've read blogs and posts from people who have lost amazing amounts during induction. For me, it was not to be.
I think one of the things that got me stuck for a while was the Atkins bars and shakes. They are very good and they are supposed to be ok for the induction phase. Not for me. I was stuck at the same weight for almost a month. Once I quit using those, I started losing again. A whole month wasted. sigh.
Another thing that slowed me down was the sugar free pudding made with half and half. Don't get me wrong, it's very good. I just stalled when I started allowing it. Even though it's less carbs than fruit, I am losing more since I started eating fresh strawberries than I was with the pudding. I think I was stalled for about a month with that one too.
You probably wonder why I took so long to figure it out. I think it must have been because I wanted to be able to have those things. They taste good. In fact, when you are living off meat, cheese, eggs and veggies, they taste FABULOUS!
One great discovery is the "muffin in a minute". At first I didn't like it, but I have tweaked the recipe a bit to make it more palatable for me and still fit in with the diet guidelines. The amount of fiber in this little powerhouse is amazing. I have starting makeing it in a pancake on the stove instead of in a mug in the microwave and it is MUCH better.
I have my walking up to about two miles a day and I know it's wierd, but I actually prefer to walk on the treadmill over walking around the neighborhood. I put my book on the stand and walk my butt off. Sadly, the treadmill is broken right now. When I am walking out and about, I usually have to go by myself and I am not really comfortable alone. The people in the area where I walk are ok, I just feel wierd out walking by myself. Also, all I can think about the whole time is, How long has it been? How far have I walked? Am I almost done yet?
I wish there was somebody around here to be my walking partner, but my husband has had some health problems and doesn't feel like walking and my daughter gets off work too late. My dogs are obnoxious in public so I don't want to take them. LOL
I still have at least 30 pounds to lose and I am just going to have to come up with some new ideas for exersize and pray for no more stalls. I want this weight off by my 47th birthday in October.
What are your goals and how are you doing with them. What do you do for fun exersize? How do you deal with stalls and the depression brought on by them?
