What is our Gestalt?
The Gestalt group is the brainchild of Darren Lynn, Alaska-based, creative and artistic. Based on his desire to broaden others' scope of knowledge and relay the principle that information can be more than just a linear construct. He created this group as a method where people from all backgrounds can work together in a collaborative effort of researching and compiling information, to add clarity and context to a written article, and to generate a wide variety of knowledge.
As explained through Wikipedia, the recent improvement in technology has provided the world with high speed Internet, wireless connection, and web-based collaboration tools like blogs, and wikis, and has as such created a "mass collaboration." People from all over the world are efficiently able to communicate and share ideas through the Internet, or even conferences, without any geographical barriers. All tools used within the collaborative are offered free through Google and instructions are both online and available from other members of the group. By seeking writers with a variety of histories and experiences, each individual brings to the table different perspectives and approaches to a single article/subject. As each person reviews the article, he or she will then begin the process of adding links to key words in order to delineate and clarify the idea conveyed in that key word and within the article itself. Since each member is approaching the project individually, more or less as equal partners, the technique encourages introspection, causing the researcher to examine his/her own thoughts and feelings about the particular subject in question. The process also becomes an excellent venue for collaborative problem solving when questions arise.
Sometimes the added links will lead to more detailed articles, blogs or journals from persons with actual hands-on experience with the theme of the article, or videos for visual acuity and explanation, or even as simple as a Wikipedia article that gives a detailed explanation of idea. Other researchers may find pictures, drawings, blueprints or maps to add a more visual experience to aid in perception.
Since each member in the group is involved in producing articles, each will give of their time and sharing of knowledge and, in return, receive of others' time and sharing of knowledge when working on projects, all learning from the joint experience. This intellectual endeavor can be a protean experience, while the actual process of research itself tends to be recursive.
Through the Gestalt group, members can acquire an appreciation of not only the subject matter, but also of the individual personalities involved in the group. As more and more individuals join, the familiarity, understanding and acceptance of differences gained through the collaborative effort can extend to every day encounters outside of the group, and can be used to foster a clearer understanding of basic social dichotomies.

This is really very cool, Darren. I have really enjoyed working in this group. I guess I was one of the doubters. What? Other people, pretty much strangers, helping other people? Who woulda thunk it. But you did it and I'm amazed at how well it works!
