Palin’s choice to use gillnets in her so-called fishing trip says a lot about what type of individual she is. The use of gillnets or trotlines is prohibited in many parts of the country and for the most part by any true outdoorsman. Most outdoorsmen and recreational fishermen consider the use of gillnets to be harmful and unsporting and so do I.
Now what does Palin’s choice to use these form of fishing tell me, well at least to me it gives me an insight into her view of fairness and equality. Now I am not a psychiatrist but my one semester of Psychology does lead me to believe that she does not truly believe in the idea that everyone is created equal and deserves respect.
How I came to this conclusion is simple. Gillnets do not give fish or other marine animals a fighting chance. Gillnets or trotlines are usually made of monofilament line that tends to be invisible to fish and their fellow water brethren. It has floats along its top and weights along its bottom so that it hangs upright in the water, curtain-like, allowing it to be set at the surface, along the bottom or anywhere in between and it can also be used as encirclement net. The net catches a fish when its head penetrates the mesh but its body cannot. The mesh slips into the gill openings such that the fish cannot escape by backing out. When set across a small section of water, such as a river or lake, the net gives the fish no chance. The net also tends to catch other animals, such as turtles or when used at sea will also catch dolphins.
So it is my opinion that anyone who claims to be a true outdoorsman or lover of nature would never stoop down to using such a devise as means of relaxation or fun. That does not mean if you fish for a living that is not a useful tool. But unless Palin suddenly quit to become a commercial fisherman, she is just showing her true side, that of someone who does not believe in fair play. Well at least that is just my opinion.

I agree! Thanks for posting.
Good grief. More "analysis" of Palin. I thought everything that was needed to know about her was already known.
Let's see. She uses glasses instead of contacts. I wonder what that say's about the "real" Palin.
Delete if you want but the constant "analysis " of every little thing (what kind of purse she has) she does or doesn't do is getting old.
If she's fishing for her own food, it has nothing to do with fairness or otherwise. She's getting her food and wants the best chance available to do that. It's well known that women from ancient times use nets, to fish.
I'm sure she believes as many Christians, that God gave us dominion over the animals. I'm also sure that she is not the only one in Alaska, the US or the world who uses them. Isn't there something important about which you could be writing? Like...why Obama finally decided to talk to Fox News...while he was in Russia? Or why Pelosi insists that the health care bill will only be available for about 48 hours for everyone to figure out if it's the right thing?
I certainly hope you weren't expecting these dimbulbs to stay on topic, Juan! LOL
It's not called fishing when you use a gill net it's called harvesting the fish. Fishing is a sport, harvesting is not. Palin is not a fisherman, she is a harvester.
Someone said in the last few days that watching Palin speak is like watching a moose trying to rollerskate, it's not graceful but you can't take your eyes away. Sort of like watching stock cars wrecking over and over again.
LOL!! Robert I know what you mean.
I know that my connection with Palin using to gillnets to her lack of fairness is a little thin but I just wrote in response to a story I caught on the GOP's media machine a.k.a. Fox News Channel regarding Democrats driving around in foreign cars while the homegrown automobile companies are in a bad shape.
